Hi Guys,

I have received Interview letter for New Delhi, India consulate today. And it have FNU written prior to my wife's name which means "First Name Unknown". Then I called NVC and they said since in my wife's passport Surname Section is blank. That's why NVC automatically put FNU before his first name.

Since the interview letter is generated with FNU prior to first name, so I am wondering whether visa will be issued like that or what? Any suggestions or advice!!

Thanks !

Yes, I know but NVC generates letters with "Dear <Last Name> <First name> " kinda format.

And in wife's passport last name/surname section is blank.

That's why they wrote

Dear FNU <First name>,

Does anyone has same problem in which spouse has Surname field blank in the passport...

Yes, you are right, NVC writes the last name first followed by a cama (,). I don't think you will have any issue with this, because the name of her passport will then match with the visa.

If your letters from "USCIS" and NVC have the format like <Surname>,<First Name> then I think there will be no problem. The name on the Green Card will appear the same format <Surname>,<First Name>.

Yes the visa will be issued liked that.

I had the exact situation.

Heres the visa.
