Hi all,

In Kiev, what is the exact process for paying and receiving a VISA after interview (obviously, with approval)? I am wondering if it is being mailed via regular mail in Ukraine or are there special couriers that deliver? What is the time of delivery?

Please advise!

Thanks.

Just had this conversation with Anya. I mentioned all the names I know to see if any clicked in her mind and she stated DHL. I have heard enough horror stories about regular mail in Ukraine and even though I haven't had any issues personally other than the service being dreadfully slow (unless you address your mail in Russian/Ukrainian) I am rather relieved it will be handled by courier.

There is a FedEx "tent" set up right outside the consulate. You will pay them for delivery of the visa. My wife (then Fiancee) waited in Kiev and picked it up at the FedEx location she specified because she lived in a very small village that was not serviced by FedEx.

Here is a link to a page at the consulate web site. You should read everything concerning the K-1 visa there. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be glad to help.

About 7 to 10 days depending where you are in the week after the interview. Good Job.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

You will pay for delivery by courier, usually Fed Ex right at the embassy. It usually takes about a week to receive it after the interview but you may have to add any holidays to that time frame. Don't forget that the embassy staff celebrates both American and Ukrainian holidays.

If you are in Kiev, you can arrange to pick up the passport with the visa at the Fed Ex office. You will get that address from the Fed Ex kiosk when you pay the fee for delivery.

Since you are new, check out the regional forums and specifically Russia, Ukraine and Belarus or what we call the RUB.

Congratulations and good luck the rest of your journey.

you pay for FedEx delivery right outside the door of the embassy (its on their territory). I believe it was 64 grivnas in August. I had my interview on Tuesday, and received my visa by FedEX on Friday and I am from Odessa :)
