is it the 25+ hours i've gone without sleep or is that reaaaaaaaaaaallyy funny

I missed the bit about men getting or looking pregnant - plenty of those around here

Its ironic that they can't detect a pregnancy but they can detect mines and incoming missiles (no pun intended)

I like suing people. I have done it twice and won both times. I even prosecuted a criminal case when the Police wouldnt take it up - and I won and the other driver was disqualified and lost his taxi business

The Red 1 , job creators nil.

So I say good luck and if its justified then the court will confirm it - and they will throw it out if it isnt

It's not so unusual that you don't detect a pregnancy through a regular urine test. Usually, if there are any suspicions, the doctor would follow up with a blood test.

In this case here, there was no suspected pregnancy, so when the test came back negative, nobody tripped. Once she realized she had some unusual symptoms, she should have went to see a doctor and ask to redo the test or, like I said before, get her own test and then have that result confirmed by a doctor per blood test.

To blame the military for not detecting her pregnancy is pretty ridiculous IMO, specially since she had symptoms and left it to others to figure out, what is going on with her.

People who know a little bit about medical care in the military know that you kind of have to tell your doctor what you think is going on with you, medical history,...as they either won't remember you or have never seen you before.

I think she should have been more responsible herself, afterall, she is the one having the baby, wanted or not...

I detected my gf's pregnancy in March 1969 when she threw up all over the inside of my my car at 8.30am. Didn't need all this new fangled tests stuff. I just got my first condoms the week before and a waste of money that was. Talk about closing the stable door after the horse had bolted. Three months before that, I had never had a girlfriend ever. Life got hectic then and has never stopped. I should have sued my parents for not warning me about slinky long haired redheads.

Well, these days, "bad mom lawsuits" aren't very successful but maybe in 1969 that would have worked :D

Nah she would have strangled me - wild west remedies in those dim and distant days.

GF's dad was a sergeant and a top freemason in the Police Force so I joined the Police Force (again) and got a big salary (double) and her dad wangled a nice big free police house in the countryside. Problem solved. Five years later I got a proper job, then college then up up and away. My dad used to say if I fell in the sewage works I would come out smelling of roses. You know the type. I am so lucky all the time I feel guilty. Good luck to the sailor girl.

I was just about to reply to my own post, take back what I wrote and say in 1969 you probably would have gotten a good a**whopping for trying to sue your momma! :innocent:

I was on honeymoon during the first moon landing so I missed it (the landing)

It was a great honeymoon - she was honking and doing hueys every 5 minutes for 2 weeks.

First 10 years with kids is ok then it gets harder and harder - ask Martin Sheen. When your are 15 you will be saying 'soon they will be off our hands'. Sure doesnt work like that. My dad had to ransom me out of saudi when I was 30 ! So enjoy it while they are young and innocent. Good luck !

Alan, are you James Bond?

Funny you should say that - after these posts I was thinking how very old I am (63) and all the extraordinary experiences I have had and comparing them to autobiographies I have read - like Keith Richards for instance - I have a myriad more unique stories than him without having to be a pop star first

The trouble is that nobody would believe me. I have a pal in Harrogate and he believes me and I tell him some of the stuff and he says I should write a book

From my experiences on VJ I know I wouold be derided as a fake and an inventor of stories like J K Rowling - so I wont bother coz I am sensitive that way. I referred once to eating a cheese breakfast sandwich off a dead man's chest - all the VJ crowd crowd howled me down as a fake as usual

I liked Connery's portrayal of Bond - especially the sadistic side (shooting someone up the bum as a parting shot) but I dont really have that as part of me unless it was ####### Cheney in my sights. All the other Bonds were pansies, though my ex mother in law said I was the spittin image of Roger Moore - her cruelty knew no boundaries

I am not keen on the Scottish accent although I spent a whole summer (1977) camping at Inverary and living on welfare and eating mackerel I caught from my canoe. I had to do west scotland lingo in order to be understood.

My wife says I am a mysoginist trapped in a heterosexual body and certainly Connery comes over like that and some women quite like that (secretly).

So give me Connery's looks, plus Marlon Brando's English accent and condescending manner (superb), Michael Caine's savvy - yes give me all those first and then sign me up.

I have a friend similar to Alan  Always the craziest stories... wild sweeping romances, living on a farm surrounded by mountains, battling bears on his property, having to scare away meth heads trying to steal from his storage shed... traveling the entire world as an engineer dealing with lasers and manufacturing. One thing he had to design was a track that carries chicken carcases through an abattoir.

Wouldn't it be so much better to ready about the crazy lives of average joes instead of the drivel from idiots?

Dont encouage me ! A prisoner in saudi arabia living on bananas for 6 weeks, a woman clinging to me and being sick all over me for an hour when I told her that her 15 year old son was drowned, arresting 4 priests who couldnt stand up, doing it with a lady police officer in unform in a patrol car while my foot was on the transmit bar on the handset and was sending for 50 miles around - a million stories - but nobody wants to know.

Thats why old guys (I hope to be one ) sit and chuckle - they are recounting their experiences to themselves because nobody wants to know - they are too busy tweeting about their nail varnish or why their boyfriend is late or who looked fat on american idol..

grumble grumble pesky youngsters etc etc etc country going to the dogs grumble grumble when I was a boy...
