My wife has not been home in 2 year. She has a 4 year son and he went with her. She is worried they may stop her from taking her son back out of the ukraine with out papers showing she is single mom. I told her it should not be a problem because he has a green card. And for him to get a green card he had to be living in the US. She is a mom and worries. So i figured if any one here can give me some help and calming my wonderful wife. Thank you so much

The same type of "papers" she used to get him passed departure passport control the first time will be needed again. The greencard, of and by itself has never satisfied them when we left.

YMMV

Are you the dad? If she is worried about him traveling, why not send her a signed letter authorising travel?

Do they have re-entry permits? If they'd been out of the USA for two years without them, they may not be let back in at all.

Penquin... you misread..

The USC is not the biological (son having a greencard is your clue) they have been living in the USA and the mother & child have returned to Ukraine for a visit

My wife was able to return to Russia with her son after her change in marital status and never had a problem.....now he does have his Russian passport which was used everywhere in Russia. The Green Card was only used at the POE when they returned back to the States.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Okay yes,HE is not my son. Okay she has the old paper from zakes she got in 2009. Can she still use that one or does she have to renew it??

Your refering to her Ukrainian exit visa correct? She had an exit visa for both herself and son when she left last? Do I have that right?

If they both have a PMZ then they are fine.

We have used the same permission slip from the biological father each time

no such thing as an exit visa that is issued anymore

Depends on how it is worded. It it gives permission to leave the country the time she left with the visa and future visits, yes, definitely it is still good. If it does not specifically state it is valid for future use, I do not know. If it says it is for "permanent relocation"

This is probably the most important document we have had. We have had to use it for every time we leave Ukraine (we are currently in Ukraine and may not need it this year because Pasha is now over age 16) we had this document carefully worded by a Ukrainian attorney to specifically allow Alla to leave Ukraine for the UNITED STATES with Pasha for the purpose of the visa and for "all future visits" We had a separate letter allowing him to leave with her for RUSSIA. In theory since he is now over age 16 we no longer need this. The letters also specifically state she can leave with him permanently we have the letter with us on this trip just on case

Keep in mind that a mistake by a dumb@ss passport agent can cause you to miss your polane, at the very least, and cost you hundreds of dollars in lost air fare, etc.

They DO NOT care that he has a green card and the green card is not used to exit Ukraine. Ukraine is extremely strict about children leaving without either permission of BOTH parents or documentation that the parent with them has sole custody by law.

There are no exit visas from Ukraine. Your answer is nonsense. Please refrain

This is a specific Ukraine question regarding leaving UKRAINE with children under age 16. So far two people who have experienced leaving Ukraine with children have answered. The others are guessing. Please stop guessing.

The same letter CAN be used, we went to extreme lengths to make sure ours specifically covered that but I am an extreme kind of guy when it comes to such things because I do not allow stupid people to interfere with my life and that of my family and do all I can to protect myself from being interfered with by stupid people.

If the letter she had in 2009 was for permanent relocation to the USA (which it should have said in order for her to get the K-2 visa) then you are fine. Just show the same letter.

When did they stop? Just curious.

I also see that she has papers that she is the single mother. This is fine. Both Payixbka and I have letters from the absent father. Her document is permanent, if the child legally "has no father" then that will always be the case. Alla also "has no father" and still has the document to say so and still takes it with her

But to answer your first question, YES she will need ths to leave Ukraine every time until the boy is age 16. Keep it safe.
