You shouldn't leave the US anyway. You would waste all the fees. A few days of overstay will have no effect on this process. Hopefully you will have NOA1 soon, but if you don't, I would suggest you stay put.

I wasn't sure if an overstay would cause issues cause I was told that when I receive the NOA, it would allow me to stay. I will stay put then :)

It won't. Once USCIS receives your I-485, you are in a period of authorized stay while it is processed. Even if there was a gap between when your visa expired and when you sent your papers, that would still be the case. With AOS, however, you can't leave the country until you receive AP because you basically have no way to return to complete the process (biometrics, interview, etc.) as you cannot use a non-immigrant visa like a tourist visa (because you obviously have intent to immigrate) and you don't yet have an immigrant visa. In any case, even if your visa expires before you receive your NOA or before the process is complete, it's not a problem.

I haven't gotten anything yet..I was in a relationship with my husband for about a year and we visited back and forth..during my last visit he proposed and we got married a couple of months later; that's when we went on with our papers. I am on a tourist visa but I didn't have the intent to immigrate. Like I said, I thought that the NOA is what allows you to stay, not the fact that you've applied and haven't received any notice yet.

Technically, yes, the fact that you applied does not give you the right to stay. The issuance of the NOA1 does. However, overstay is irrelevant/forgiven for spouses of USCs once the GC is approved. So, that is why we have suggested to stay put, even if you do not get the NOA1 in time (maybe the package will be rejected of you forgot a signature or paid the wrong fee or something and cause even further delay). Let's say you leave one day, and the very next day the package is accepted for initial review. They will soon figure out you left and the application will be denied and you would have to start all over and waste all of your fees. We are suggesting that you commit to this process, because a few days of overstay will not make a difference. If your visa expires, one day passes, then the NOA1 is issued, you will still be in a NEW period of authorized stay and that one day where you lapsed into overstay will make zero impact on the application.

Suggest in future you put a trackable method on all of your important mail (you can get delivery confirmation for a few cents extra).

Also, you stated earlier that your current period of authorized stay expires on Nov 2nd - that is 2 months from now, so even if for some reason the package was rejected and bounced back to you, you would still have plenty of time to re-send it in time for USCIS to receive it before your I-94 expires. I don't think you need to worry about overstay, and as stated by several previous posters, a few days / weeks / even months of overstay would not really hinder your AOS process.
