Sent in AOS on the 23rd, no receipt notice?

Hello,

My husband and I sent in the AOS package 5 days ago and we still haven't gotten any kind of receipt notice by email. From what I've read, it takes like 2 days to get to Chicago. Should I be worried?

I think you're fine did you get the certified mail? That way you know it didnt get lost in the mail or something... It should take at least 7 business days

We sent it first class and they said it would be there Thursday or Friday. What is the email that we get the notification from? I noticed that yours took 3 days..

Don't worry, it can take as long as a few weeks to receive a Notice of Action. There are quite a few people here on VJ that waited 30 days or more. They receive thousands of applications so it's understandable that everyone's application can't be accepted in a few days.

I agree with Missicy mine took atleast 8 days to get a notification from uscis. Tell you what though, my first application was sent back to me 10 days after because my hubby signed on the wrong line! I know crazy right? But that's how intense these people are So hopefully you double, triple checked everything before you sent it out... Not saying it will happen to you but it's one of those things that you never expect to happen...

Just wait... You'll receive the texts and emails before you know it!

Btw, did you ever get a confirmation that they received the packet?

No, that's the notification that I'm waiting for; that they actually received it, but I didn't. I know the NOA1 takes a few weeks, but I am still waiting for them to notify me that they at least received the packet. Don't they send an email or text telling us that they got it? Not approved it but received it?

You might get an email/text message notification from USCIS if you filed the G-1145 form with your application package. However, USCIS's email / text / online notice systems tend to be a bit unreliable, so I wouldn't worry about not getting email messages from them. If you didn't fill out the G-1145 form, then you won't be getting any emails anyway.

You will only get one kind of a notice for now, which is simply a notification telling you they have received your package and will begin reviewing it. That is NOA1, essentially. After that you start waiting for the biometrics letter, and if something would be missing, they will send and RFE requesting the missing documents.

It's only been 5 days - it would be very exceptional if you actually heard something from USCIS that fast. If you send your package via UPS or FedEx, or USPS express mail, you should have a tracking number that will tell you whether it was delivered or not. Beyond that, all you can do now is wait - and it can take up to 30 days before you hear anything from USCIS at this point. Patience is the name of the game

Oh, you're talking about USPS, They usually give you a receipt with a tracking number? because that's what I did, I just tracked it online. I thought you were talking about uscis. lol. My bad -- Anyway you have to check your receipt or something and check online.

And yes, they it was signed for by someone in about 3 days. and if I remember correctly, I just used priority mail with confirmation receipt.

NOA1 and emails/texts are generated at the same time and that is when they receive your application AND accept it, meaning checking if the check amount is right, everything signed etc., and putting your info into the system. Like I said in my previous post, it sometimes take a couple of weeks for them to accept your application; every packet is not acknowleged and opened as soon as they receive it, simply because they receive so many. Your packet might sit in the mail room for a couple of weeks before someone opens it and it would be kind of impossible for them to send you email/text if they haven't even opened it yet, right?

Thanks everyone; yes we sent in the G-1145 form with our papers. We sent in the I-130, I-485, I-765, I-693 (sealed), G-325's, G-1145, I-864 along with all the required paperwork for each application: Sworn statements, photocopy of marriage cert., joint bank account proof, passport and birth cert. copies, employment letters, cover letters, photos, etc.

I checked and double checked, it took a few weeks to get the whole thing done, it's like my baby and I want to make sure it arrived safely

It would be impossible to receive a notification if they haven't opened it yet, but as far as I understood, we receive the notification of receipt a couple of days after it's sent just to let the person know that they got it and a few weeks later comes the NOA1 (the approval).

No, the electronic notice you receive IS the NOA1, not a notice it arrived in the mail room. You also get a paper copy but the first text/email you will get is generated at the same time as the NOA1. They don't send you an email to tell you the package is in the mailroom. Sometimes it takes up to a month to generate the NOA1 and the first text/email. If you wanted to know if it arrived, then you could have gotten tracking at the post office or postal service you used, but USCIS won't perform that service. Just wait and relax. The whole process is a waiting game and it is too easy to get paranoid.

What Harpa said. If you see timelines that say USCIS received a packet a couple days after it was mailed, it's because many people send it with tracking and are tracking it through FedEx or USPS or whoever they sent it with and are getting notifications from them that it has been delivered.

Hopefully you have tracking receipt for mailing, our was not registered for about 25 days. i think it gave them more time to process due to being backed up. Don't worry but you will.

Unfortunately I don't have a tracking number; my bad, I did think that because I've seen people write that it's been received that we get a notice from USCIS. My visa stamp expires on Nov. 2nd so I just want to get the NOA1 at least before then so I don't have to leave the U.S.
