Hello members of visa journey,

I am coming to you today to ask a question on AOS Interview for newly married couples.

Okay, so I am from USA, my girlfriend from Canada, and we had just gotten married on a spare of the moment decision on her recent visit and now plan to go for AOS (adjustment of status) for her to become permanent resident.

My questions regarding this topic is,

From my knowledge, a part of the AOS is doing this interview type thing, can I please in your own words and knowledge have a description of what to expect at the interview?

And also, is this interview for my girlfriend now wife to become permanent resident here for AOS held in here in USA or would she have to go back to Canada to do this AOS interview process thing? or can it all be done in the USA??

And lastly, I have read too that people do not use K3 anymore because it is time stakingly long and very rarely used and that most couples these days just go for Adjustment of status to become permanent resident, so my last question in this is, Because me and her got married spare of the moment on her visit, meaning she didnt have any visa prior to this, is it common for newly married couples who decided to just marry file AOS without having a K1 or a K3 visa?

as much knowledge and details would be greatly apreciated, and thank you for taking time out of your day to read and answer this question.

You should be posting here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/130-adjustment-of-status-from-work-student-tourist-visas/

Hopefully a mod will move your posts. There, you will find lots of information and people who can explain how things go for the process you are doing.

The whole point of AOS, as I explained before is that yes, it is done from within the US. As I said before, she MUST stay in the US until she gets travel permission or she won't be coming back.

Completely forget the K3. Just erase it from your brain. You are filing a I-130/I-485 CONCURRENT package which results in a Greencard and permanent residency.

You will file a whole slew of forms (one is the results of a medical exam she will have before) and then you will wait. You will get a notice to get her fingerprints taken, called "biometrics." Then you will wait some more. Then you will get a notice for a mandatory interview that you both must attend. There are reviews of interviews of local USCIS offices in the "reviews" tab above.

There are plenty of people here who can explain the whole process (including me) but I suggest first that you look through the forms and read over the AOS forum I linked. Then if you have remaining questions, ask away.

You're not going to get much action here because K3 is a dead visa and very few read this forum.

AOS for my husband
