If the cheap hotel across from the consulate is $100+ a night, I figure it might be worth it to use priceline and stay at a nicer hotel, or at a bed and breakfast. Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!

I'm sure if you do a search you wil lfind many results, as this is a common subject. Don't forget to include parking, some it is free, others charge.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

www.hotwire.com Has great hotel deals ... they don't tell you the hotel name until you pay to protect the hotels from phone calls .. Hotels sell the rooms @ a discount to help keep them full... they go by :star: rating and location .. they tell you it's a hotel like _____ . We use them every time we are looking for a hotel so i thought i'd share .. Good Luck finding something

Found this bed and breakfast for $75-$100 CAD per night, including a hot breakfast. Off street parking is $10 per night. They say that the US consulate is 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes by bus.

Please follow this link for some photos: http://www.studiosmontreal.com/b_and_b.html

Our B&Bs are centrally located downtown Montreal within walking distance to the main points of interest and public transportation.
