My wife recently remarked that she isn't "computer savvy", whatever that means. I told her that no one knows everything about computers and there's no reason why anyone can learn enough about computers to get by. My approach to something that I don't know how to do is that I'm perfectly capable of learning how to do it to some level of competency, even if it takes me a thousand times longer to learn it than someone else.

I did learn how to gap a plug long ago (but never applied it in real-world setting), and can change door-locks (done several times in my Calgary home) and hang pics.

The carpenter had better be sure that the carpet is at least 18 years old before he lays it, si man.

I can gap a spark plug, change my oil,, hang a photo, and I know how to solder.

I can also use various machines; ditchwich, nail gun, jackhammer, etc. I can drive a backhoe. I can rip off roofs, and I know how to lay a new roof. I've replaced a transmission (with help). I also know how to marcite a pool, fix plumbing, build shelves, run wire through a house, hang trusses, lay tile, etc.

My dad was a GC, and I loved learning stuff from him. I still do, actually. And my mom; a professional classically trained pianist, and who's who in American women stockbroker also surprised me a time or two. She looks like your 'typical' trophy wife, but is accomplished in her own right beyond measure. I came home from school one day to find her pressure cleaning the roof. We were all confused as to why she would do it....she said to me 'remember: you never have to depend on a man to do stuff becausenyou are entirely capable of doing it too.'. My dad was confused as to why she didn't wait for him, and she said she was feeling 'inspired' lol.

Sure, there was that one time I got a flat tire at 19, and while waiting for the tow truck guy, I jacked up the car and tried to take the lug nuts off...turns out I forgot to take the hubcap off, and what I was trying to take off was just the shape of the nuts, and not the actual nuts, lol...I told the tow truck guy the nuts must be stripped...boy, he must have gotten a kick outta that one....

Bought an S10 with a bad motor (very light rod knock + low oil pressure).

Found a guy that has a rebuilt motor about an hour away from me.

He lives in the country.

This was his shed that he and his dad built....

http://s106.photobucket.com/albums/m254/nathan_211/Gregory%20MI%20shed/?albumview=slideshow

Has really high ceilings, both sides have electric doors, has a hydraulic lift, they even have a homemade oil barrel with a pump in it for oil changes! They recycle the oil to businesses that use it for heat.

Has a bathroom. Storage room. Outside he has one of those really long garbage dumpsters. Asked him what was in it and he said it is storage for tools!

Asked him what was upstairs in the shed - "That's my dads office - I don't go up there"

If you see in pic 7 on the upstairs door it has a sign on the door that just says: BUBBA

India, gun buyback and steamroll.
