Those with CR-1 visa

I have read (on VJ) that if the ticket is purchased in PI from a PI (some but not all) travel agency there is an immigrant discount available.

I wonder what the "catch" is.

Maybe do some searches to see if you can find the (old) thread discussing this.

I doubt you will get many responses. This topic was discussed a couple years ago. You will probably end up educating the current crowd about the discount. It's good you bring it up for discussion again.

I arrived in the US mid-July this year on a K-1. Got my ticket from Motivation Tours in Makati. It was USD 430 + 245 taxes, with the so-called "First time immigrant discount". Flight was on PAL, economy, one way direct to SFO. Compared to the PAL website price, it was about 300 USD cheaper.

No problems at all. Contact camiabriones@yahoo.com. Good luck!

Here is the prior thread,

Good to know there is no catch. Is the discount only available via PAL?

My wife did get the 1st time immigrant fare.

She bought the ticket at the Cathay Pacific Airlines office in Makati.

She had to show her passport with visa.

She paid a little under $700 - all fees & taxes were included except the 750p terminal fee. Her flight was from Manila to JFK (NYC) on Cathay Pacific.

I called some of agencies that was listed on DOT as an accredited agency and yeah they give discount for first time immigrants the lowest price I got was 629$ from Manila-Vancouver-Vegas via PAL. They only need your passport to see the visa stamp. And that I wonder how will I buy my ticket earlier for much better ticket price if I can only have my passport on hand after consulate/2Go delivers it. Good luck everyone :innocent:
