help with dos plss

i called dos today and they have no updates since july 25 what they see in their system is that we are pending review with co at embassy but that day the co called me and told me evthing is fine with our case but he has one last thing which is name checks... And he will start that process

Can the embassy be doing name checks without dos knowing??? Im so confused and trying to keep hope alive by anything we can get

I called DOS on Monday and all I got was that it's pending Administrative Review. You're lucky they provided you with some details. I may have to ask for details as well. As to answer your question, I have no idea; I'm keeping you in my prayers.

Do you by any chance know what administrative review is? Is it that they're still reviewing our documents or is it a general term for everything i.e name check etc?

I understand your furstration, Don't worry just pray for good, Insha Allah it will be over soon, ask your Husband to call Consulate, as per my own experience i got more info from consulate instead of DOS, Sister just don't worry and make DUA Insha Allah everything will be alright, everything will happen on it's time, insha allah

DOS = Consulate

Not sure why you are talking about them like they are two different entities.

Department of State runs the Consulate offices, they use the same letterhead. The DC office you are calling simply sees what the overseas consulate puts in the computer when they answer the phone. Same people different offices.

Well... all i know is the embassy (per the CO on july 25th...i spoke with him personally) said we were done and our case was fine nothing further needed but name checks and he said he would put him in name checks but when we call DOS they dont have anything updated since before that.. all they have is the review we had ot do for the extra document we submitted

Not exactly Sergie, think of Walmart corporation vs a Walmart store. They are the same thing but they aren't, one doesn't always know what the other is doing. DOS does name checks but the embassy can do their own checks also. Given the state of the US government's computers which don't necessarily speak to each other or else take weeks to update between overseas and stateside it is possible for DOS to show one thing and the embassy the other.

You are towards the end my dear and I am sure they are moving as fast as they possibly can. They have a lot of people in AP in that Embassy and I am sure many other challenges. Just keep checking in like you are.

I just called DOS again to make sure we're not missing any documents. She said we are not and that our case is still in admin review. I asked her if they know wheather we're waiting on our document review or name check she said she cant discuss that with me. She said she does know which step we're at but she cant discuss that with me.

This is sooo frustrating. I just wish they could share a little more with us...i.e step 1, 2 is done we're waiting on step 3...or whatever. That way we'll atleast know there is progress. For all I know my husband's case is sitting in someone's office collecting dust...grrrr.

Yeah, I don't understand that either! Why can they NOT tell us about OUR cases, especially when we pay out all this money! That is our information and it should be mandatory that they keep us updated! At least that is my opinion...the person at DOS should never have said that they know what step you are in...that is just rude!

We have gone back and fourth between Administrative Review and Administrative Processing. I believe you get more up to date info from the embassy but I can't get them to return my emails so I call DOS.

Sometimes the person at DOS will give you the wrong information. They will say you are in AR when you are really in AP. We were in AR for 3 months when they were looking at some documents we sent. After that we went into AP for 2 months then they called my husband to come in for a second interview. After his second interview our case went back into AP. We've been in AP now for an additional 3 months.

I sent them proof that I am in Pakistan visiting my husband after not getting to see him for almost 2 years. I am hoping this will show them that our marriage is not a sham. I called DOS and they said the embassy got the documents and they are being reviewed and we are back in AR. In my opinion security checks are done online. I feel that they can do security checks and review documents at the same time. Many people feel AR and AP are the same thing. Only the embassy knows how this whole process works and they will not share this with the public.

I just know it's been 8 months sense we sent the the documents they requested after his first interview and we still don't know if we'll get the visa. My husband and I have been through hell with this process and all we can do is keep waiting. One day all of this waiting will be over and we'll have an answer. I hope all of us waiting get the visa.

My research is that no one want to make a commitment, and answers differ between who get the call. You will probably get more review due to Pakistan (that is what most are saying here), hang in there, patience.
