I don't mind anyone having ANY religion OR NONE coz thats the Constitution.

The religious right really resents Muslims and non believers or anyone who is not in their club and want to tailor the US and women's bodies etc to fit their religious beliefs.

i gotta call BS there. your post history suggest you dispise any religion or religious people.

the ones i see being resentful, spiteful and out right lying about 'others' motives, beliefs, & supposed agenda are the atheist.

Come on get serious here, if this flimsy stuff is all you have against the three candidates running here in 2011 .... you ain't got much, in fact, I would suggest you have been duped by talking points.

Imagine the landscape with teachers/police/firepersons all fired - huge class sizes and billions taken out of the economy. The top 1% having their wealth doubled again and no social security or Medicare.

The lower 98% would be economic slaves, being financially gutted to have their remaining wealth given to the top 1%

Ignorance and illiteracy to stalk the land with huge prisons for the financially derelict. Religion would be slyly introduced as a pre requisite for public office. (It is to some extent now).

Huge belt buckles and protruding guts - big hats and brown jackboots - a Texan future for hundreds of millions. Executions on a Texas scale.

Would you leave the US or slog it out like you did through the Bush years and hope ? Conservative years encourage ignorance and knee-jerk thinking and therefore perpetuate right wing politics. It's likely that the US would stay the way that Perry wants it in downward spiral of violent speech and ignorance and anti-intellectual thinking.

I would stay because I am in the top 5% with no entitlements accrued anyway - so they cant be taken.

The young don't care as they can't see as far as being sick or old or unemployed - some of which WILL come to them.

What about the middle ? What would they do in that post-nuclear like landscape ?

Would they leave ? Could they leave to live in another country with pensions and free health care and no executions or torture and women's choice and longer life expectancy and better education etc etc etc ?

I don't think they would and that is why the likes of Perry have a chance.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

I have 10,000 posts here, maybe 5 are news stores from WND, I doubt I have ever used them as a "source" in even one post.

Now please post the proof which causes you such alarm about the oncoming theocracy.

I am resentful of the religious nuts trying to close down ands regulate individual's lives according to their personal religion. That is prohibited by the constitution.

It's true that I think the world would be better off without religion and I don't hide that, but that doesn't mean I would deny a person their citizenship either real or in reputation terms - or a job or a medical operation or the ability to serve as a State Politician etc etc etc because they were religious. The religious right WOULD and does do all of things to non believers and wants to extend it to control everyone's bedrooms and bodies.

I am learning that many Americans profess adherence to the Constitution but it is bogus and in reality they only adhere to their own tribal/religious supremacy and would cut across any of the constitution to get their own way.

I am proudly non religious and much more valuable to society than these religious charlatans who simply manipulate the gullible for their own ends.

alan there are extreme nutters on both side of the political isle. there are even worse control freak nutters both religous & non-religious that want to dictate what me & you do in every aspect of our lives.

to label all religious people as 'the religous right' & claiming they want to this or that to everyone and they are all racist is ridiculous. i was raised catholic & do attend church..not regularly...but, i do go. i'm raising a 10 year old daughter who's mother is latino & i'm married to a filipina...'not a racist'.. i don't give a damn what you do in your home or in public for that matter...as long as it doesn't directly affect me or have a negative impact on my family...i really do not care. have you ever ran across a guy by the name of steven here on VJ? he is a religous person & IMO about as far left as someone could be. many of his political views mirror yours.

eta: why do you feel you're more valuable than anyone? honestly, that sounds extremely arrogant.

I am afraid you are paraphrasing me in a dishonest manner- I never said I was 'more valuable than anyone else'. To misrepresent what people have written and to deliberately misquote them shows how weak your case is. If you have to misquote people to try and pick a hole in their argument by underhand methods, then you have no argument

To say I think all religious people are racist is a similar smear/lie

I think you should visit your priest and repent for your sins of bearing false witness.

To say that the left have equal nutters who want to take over people's bodies and shoot doctors etc is again FALSE

There is no moral equivalence in the rightist religious people's agenda

This violence and hatred and control is from your side of the baptismal font

Everything you have written is demonstrably FALSE

Now think on that and quietly repent and only quote people correctly and muster your aguments without employing falsehoods (lies) - Jesus would not have done that and you are a follower aren't you ?

really?...from this thread.

I agree - I am only just learning the significance of 'tar babies' and 'oreoles' in the far right vocabulary, so I have no chance with 'dingle' although I am sure it's a shade darker than pink.

really?...from this thread.

That's the way to do - actual quotes

None of the quotes you just published support what you quoted me as saying. I own up to all of them.

None of them say what you accused me of

My complaint against the crazy religious right does not include ALL the right or ALL religious people and nowhere do I say that ALL right wingers or ALL religious people are crazy or racists - you went too far in saying that was my position. I just watched Huntsman and he is right wing and religious and I could almost vote for him.

It's making that extension gratuitously that has my dander up.

There are religious people who want to murder doctors - NOTE I did not say ALL religious people.

There are religious people who want to aggressively make life hard for people who do not share their views - check on the States who bar non believers from State Office - they exist

Its that kind of aggressive religiousity which scares and disappoints me

You would do your religion a power of good if, instead of siding with anyone who is religious, you broke ranks and helped root out the craziness. Both your religion and people of my views (fastest growing religious views in the US) would benefit

Italy has the lowest birth rate in the EEC - despite being Catholic. Irish girls go to England for abortions and condoms were illegal there. People are going through hoops to escape the religious based laws.

Christians simply cannot get it into their heads that it is normal for all religions AND atheists, not to steal rape, do incest etc. They think that without religious laws, people would act like animals. The fact is that far more of this goes on WITHIN religious families than outside religious families

Dont preach to us or fence us in with laws or discriminate against us because we are not bad people deserving of punishment and religious control and correction

I'm calling bullshit on this one. Which state(s) bar candidates from office due to religious qualifications?

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

I am calling you and you need to apologize to me - are you big enough ?

Arkansas is one of half a dozen states that still exclude non-believers from public office. Article 19 Section 1 of the 1874 Arkansas Constitution states that "No person who denies the being of a God shall hold any office in the civil departments of this State, nor be competent to testify as a witness in any court."

or could just be tired of listening to your dumbass ramble. :)

Not big enough to admit I was right that some states still have laws against the non-religious being a witness in court or holding any state employment ?

I thought so ...I expected that

You come on here and call someone a BSer then cant apologize or admit they were right..

John Wayne would have owned their error - but he was a big man. He was also religious and right wing - but different from the religious right wing of today - made up of small men
