I completely reject this no-hugging notion.

Japanese people tend to be more stoic than most and even then I give a big bug to my (now) mother in law every time I visit Tokyo.

While I respect other cultures, I won't participate in their tomfoolery. Hugs for everyone! :energy:

If she's old fashioned, I wouldn't worry about it. I think she's more conservative unlike us the new generation? I do say I love you to my fiance after a couple weeks of talking.

I lived in Thailand during my teenager years. I never hugged my parents or my siblings/relatives until I'm in the US. I for some reasons only hug my dad? I never said I love you to anyone until I've been in the US a few years after! (but of course i did sing the songs w/ "I love you" words)Never said I love you to my parents not even now. hmmm but that doesn't matter. My action does show them that I love them.

My old fashioned, old skool 42 year old wife told me 3 times yesterday that she loved me.

( payday was on the 1st, so she was a few days late. )

:P I'd deduct a late-fee out of her envelope if I were you ......

I'm not Thai, but when I was with my ex-fiance, we told each other "I love you" daily.

I agree, however, with another poster in this thread... Sometimes I think we say "I love you" too early and use it too loosely.

February 2010 -- Applied for B2 visa, approved.

March 2010 -- Visited US.

April 2010 -- Returned from US.

For many Thai women the words don't come easy, probably because many were never told "I love you," when they were children.

At one point I simply said: "Do you love me..." The answer was "Baa....why do you ask, you see..." I'll accept that.

I'm a hugger and that is one of the things my wife told me attracted her - that I hug my daughter every day she is with me and tell her that I love her every single day. She tells me that she wished she had this affection when she was growing up. She has become quite the hugger and we have family groups hugs with the kids every night.

My wife's family has gotten used to me hugging them when I greet them and leave them - they just chalk it up to me being a crazy american. Funny though, with my wife right behind me they with shrug her off - I think it bothers her a bit.
