Can there be a gap in employment on a P1?

Hi, I'm currently in the USA from Canada on a P1 for entertainment support workers which expires in Feb 2012. I will be resigning my position with my current employer in September. Can I begin to look for a new job with a new employer in the US, on the same visa? If I don't work between employers for a few weeks or a few months, will that affect my P1 status?

P visa is not an individual visa - P visa is issued to individual is part of the group.

So I am not sure you can transfer your P visa from one employer to another employer at all.

On P1 you should not be working for any US employer, you should be part of entertainment group or an athelete or an artiest etc.
