So i went into my GP's office this morning asking them if i could get a vaccination history printed off. Which they did but it was only upto 1984, so I asked them what about the ones i had done at school when i was 15. She went back into my file and said they had no record of it!!!!!

So i asked her how can they have records of my childhood ones but not my school ones, only for her to give me the complete run around. She told me she would pull my notes and would have to call me. So she calls about an hour ago and tells me there is no record of my notes and so i will need to have these injections again if i want to have proof ive had them.

This means tetanus, polio (do i still have to have this if i am over 18?), and MMR and worse they cant do it till Thurday morning, and my medical is in the afternoon.

Other than being a complete pin cushion and prior warning from the nurse its going to hurt cuz i guess the MMR is 3 jabs now, there is no reason i cant have them the same day as my medical right?

I need the MMR I think, and I'm pretty sure you can still get it in one jab, as the bloke that said all the stuff about it harming people has been completely discredited...

Anyway, no probs having it the same day I'm sure!

If you're current on your tetanus and have had the MMR (which I doubt you have since you're too old, if you're in the UK) before, the nurse told us that it wouldn't be a big deal to have again. I don't think you have to be vaccinated against polio again, but you do have to prove that you've had the vaccination.

The MMR is not three shots; it's a single shot.

Please don't take my word for it 100% as I'm not a medical professional, but if you don't have proof of these vaccinations you will 99.99% either have to have them again or will have to have an immunity screen for them, which can take a while and is expensive.

See my problem is i did have MMR, Polio (on the sugarcube) and tetanus when i was at school but my GP's office is telling me they have no records of this. And as I cant prove i have it means i will have to have all of them again, which given the fact the medical place will charge me £35 im ok with.

The receptionist told me on the phone today the reason its going to hurt is cuz the MMR is 3 shots now?!? I dunno she is a receptionish after all so is proberly wrong.

I was just a bit worrid about having them the same day as my medical, but what better way then a nice bruise on my arm to show ive had the jabs.

CapeG, my hubby was shocked to learn the same thing when he went to his GP. Then he found out that his old school burned down so obtaining records from them was impossible. After weeks of frustration, he settled for a letter from his GP indicating they vaccinations the GP knew about. At the medical, he received MMR & tetanus for 60 pounds. You may want to see if you can get them cheaper from your GP, but in my husband's case, the cost was about the same.

Good Luck!

I was just a bit worrid about having them the same day as my medical, but what better way then a nice bruise on my arm to show ive had the jabs.

The MMR is a single vaccination; NHS facilities in the UK generally do not give separate measles, mumps, and rubella vaccinations as this is the 'old' way of doing things, and the US panel physicians in London give the single MMR jab. Any jab could leave you with a bruise or an aching arm and they all have possible side effects but since they're supposed to be rare, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. The nurse who gives you the jab can explain the side effects to you more fully. (A tetanus jab can also leave you with a sore arm.)

I wouldn't be concerned about having them the same day as your medical examination; my husband was not up-to-date with his tetanus jabs and did not have a rubella vaccination as a child (those were usually given only to girls in the 1960s and 1970s in the UK) and he had his diptet and MMR jabs at the medical. The nurse said it wouldn't be a problem at all. The two of them together will cost more than 35 pounds though; it'll be closer to 60-70 pounds together. I don't know how much a polio vaccination costs there or even if they are available. Unfortunately the USCIS does not seem to accept oral medical histories so if you can get proof that you've had a polio vaccination, that would be best. Have you tried asking your old school for it? There ought to be a record somewhere; I find it hard to believe that nobody would have records of it. My husband's jabs that he got at school were not included on his NHS medical records but he was given his polio vaccination at the GP's office, so that got recorded.

I don't think you've really got much to be concerned about. :luv:
