It has been 8 months since submitting our I-751 to remove conditions on my husband's green card. The NOA and biometics occurred relatively quickly (4-6 weeks after submission), but there has been no news from USCIS. How much longer should we wait before contacting USCIS about our case status? The VSC is handling our application, which I know processes applications much slower.

You can find USCIS's processing time goals at https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

According to this, VSC are allowed to take up to 6 months to process an I-751.

What that means is that if you try to call them before 6 months has passed, they'll say it's still within the processing guidelines and ask you politely to go away.

Eight months is significantly over their processing time goal. So you could certainly call them.

Another trick that can work if a case has gotten totally stuck, and service inquiries don't get any results, is to wait until you are eligible to file for citizenship, and then file your N-400. Doing this forces them to adjudicate the I-751, if they haven't yet.

I called up USCIS since we are outside the 6 month processing time for ROC at the VSC. Some sort of notification is supposed to be sent to the office and we should hear from them within 30 days. Fingers crossed this will be over soon.
