Every type of energy has it's downsides. It's ironically funny that those who support keeping the status quo of a fossil fuel dominated energy industry easily dismiss the environmental costs of fossil fuels, but suddenly become environmentalists when talking about the environmental impact of renewable energy.

Birds also die from flying into tall buildings, from asphyxiation from car fumes, from engine and exhaust runoff that poisons the ground, just to mention a few other ways, humans have impacted the life of the bird. That isn't to say we should find solutions to minimize the impact, but no one is talking about getting rid of cars because they kill birds.
