i need to resend that bloody form to the student loans company stating im still not working :? of course its been sent to the uk and my parents are not coming over till mid October. i can't remember when i'm over due to send the letter. bah wish i could just do it online. :bonk:

That entire statement sounds untrue to me. They do not let you cease payments just because you've gone to work abroad. And I doubt they'd ever write off any debt. You won't find anything about that in the agreement you've signed or their website, etc (happy to be proven wrong on that!)

Actually they do write off student loan debt

If the first loan was taken out in or before the academic year 2005/06 (in England, Wales, Scotland or NI) the loan is written off when you reach 65.

If the first loan was taken out in or after the academic year 2006/07 (in England, Wales or NI) loans are written off 25 years after they became eligible to be repaid - if it was in Scotland loans are written off 35 years after they became eligible to be repaid.
