Hi Everyone-Finally submitted my 129F and have NOA1. Want to get everything in order for next phase and could use some help/advice on a couple of things:

1. Is there a document that describes in Thai the Packet 3 and 4 requirements. Looked on the Bangkok embassy website but did not find...in English anyway, a translated Thai version of the directions. Would be great to give to my Fiance!

2. Recommendations on how to get a thai birth certificate. My fiance was born at home and claims to not have a birth certificate. Any suggestions? She has her ID card and passport.

3. Any recommendations on a Thai language translator in Bangkok or in Buriram province?

Thanks!!!!

Ken

Born at home does not necessarily equal lack of a birth certificate. Her parents should have gone to the local Amphur after her birth. If they did, you will need to go back to the Amphur to get her BC.

Regarding instructions in Thai, you will either need to email the embassy or hope someone else has a current copy of the instructions in Thai.

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

#1 Type packet 3 in visa section search block to find special instructions in Thai.

#2 Common problem in Thailand. She can go to her Amphur to get help.

#3 What needs to be translated? Be careful with this. Its easy to spend money you dont have to.

Its possible for her to buy a special pin number at a Thai post office that allows her to call into the embassy to ask questions. This should not be needed just for P 3 docs.

P 4 is simply the interview date letter. I think this is done mostly by email now.

She'll need to go to the Amphur with her mother. They will giver her a document stating when she was born, and to who. They'll make it official with the stamp. It'll be in Thai so I suggest getting it and any other documentation you have in Thai translated to English in Thailand for adjustment of status.

Ken,

Use this link for the packet 3 instructions. Click on the "Instructions for K visa (checklist)". Once it opens, scroll down, you can see the thai translation for your fiance. http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas/packet-3-forms-and-instructions.html

The packet 4 doesn't have a thai translation on the website.

Juan

Ning, you said that packet 4 is done by email now? That would be really nice! I hope that's how it is.

Is this a correct instruction for packet 4?

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/iv_appointment_package_sep10.pdf

Also, does packet 3 get sent in the snail mail or by email? (is there any way for them to NOT send it by the snail mail?)

Currently.... they have issued Ice the incorrect GC and we have tried 4 times to fix it. First time they had us send it to the incorrect address. Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T
