Hi Everyone,

Hopefully this will be a tame topic, and won't crash and burn! :P

It's been a long time since I've started building credit, and I'm not sure how to best advise my spouse to start building his. We like to live a credit-free life as much as possible, but this does not lend itself to developing a good credit score.

This may have been addressed on here before, and I apologize if it's repetitive, (I may have even started the topic before! ) But, we realize it's time he build a crdit score, and I'd love to hear what has worked well for other.

Thanks!

You can have credit cards just need to have control. ;) But usually 3 credit cards are good with (visa, mastercard and a discover) You can pay with them everytime you make a purchase but just pay them off right away with what you would have used to pay with in cash or with your debit card with. You could co-sign a loan for him that is a great way to build credit also.

my husband started out with a single secured credit card about 2 years ago, with a credit limit of around $500. he made minor purchases on it and then paid it in full every month. about a year later, his credit was established enough, and with a high enough score that he was able to get a home loan, by himself, with one of the lowest interest rates possible. it was far easier, and took far less time than i ever thought it would.
