Military is a growth business when we have a warmonger as a president. Texas is a huge military state. The government is a small part of the job growth in Texas, I know that jealousy is strong when one does not live in a state that is doing as outstanding as Texas but get over it. Now I am all for getting our troops worldwide and bringing them home and drawing the military down but until we get rid of this warmonger of a president then Texas has to train and staff and all the other stuff that needs to be done.

Now if I remember right Florida has been stagnant as most states. If you want growth in that state then do what needs to be done. I will warn you there are side effects to all this growth we have here in Texas that is not really on the plus side.

Now please can anyone tell me which state is in second place on creating new jobs in the country?

The warmonger President has been gone for a few years now. A huge military state means a BIG GUBMINT state. Which is what I've been trying to tell you all along. Texas feasts on gubmint.

And as for lessons on Florida, tell it to Republicans why don't you? They've been busy for quite some time doing their very best to run this state into the ground just as fast as they can. Jeb, Charlie and now Con Scott. All supported by Republicans in the state legislator. No wonder we're one of the most corrupt states in the union.

If only there weren't these pesky little facts.

The most commonly cited measure of troop strength is “Boots on the Ground” or the number of troops located in Afghanistan and in Iraq. Based on average monthly Boots on the Ground figures, the number of troops in Afghanistan and Iraq increased from 5,200 in FY2002 to a peak of 187,900 in FY2008 primarily because of increases in Iraq beginning with the invasion in March 2003. In FY2009, total troop strength is expected to remain the same as planned increases in Afghanistan offset declines in Iraq. By FY2012, overall troop strength for the two wars is likely to decline to 67,500 when the withdrawal from Iraq is expected to be complete.

Get that? The number of troops in these conflicts peaked in 2008.

True, but their private sector growth is very impressive nonetheless.

9% job growth to accommodate 20% population gorwth is impressive? The only thing that has grown with the population in Texas is gubmint. Private sector jobs most certainly have not kept pace. Which explains why Texas' unemployment rate has doubled under Gov. Perry. Must be a Texas thing. Bush also managed to nearly double the national unemployment rate during his two terms in office.

It's not even a drop in the bucket compared to either Iraq or Afghanistan. Not a boot on the ground, not a service member's life lost and the total cost to the treasury over the past six months that we were engaged there is about what was spent on the other two wars in a single day. Same result - dictator gone - but much better way to achieve it. If we had done the engagement in Afghanistan and Iraq similarly, we'd be looking at a few thousand graves and several trillion dollars worth of debt less. What a wonderful world it would be had we not put up with the war monger in chief.
