Hi!

We are a Bolivian-American couple looking to start the K-1 visa process next year, and we're hoping you can help us through the whole ordeal! We met 4 1/2 years ago and have been traveling back and forth ever since, and we are very anxious to apply (I'm sure you all can relate).

Oscar is from Bolivia and is planning a trip to the US to visit me in December on a tourist visa. We are wondering if it's possible to start the application while he is still here. We really want to spend as little time apart! I am able to visit him later on; is it possible for me to visit him in Bolivia while the application is processing? Is there any reason I would need to be in the US at any given time? Depending on the timing and circumstances, our perfect plan would be for me to travel with him to the US once the fiance visa is approved. Has anyone ever accomplished this, or is it possible?

I know it's a lot of questions, but we are very new to all of this! Thanks :)

yes u can travel to c each other during the process however u would need to be in contact with someone u trust from home to recieve ur mail because the USCIS will send u mail regarding ur petition and u may want to call NVC at some point to find out more info and i dont know how easy or hard it will be for u to contact a us number overseas but other than that it is actually a good idea to continue visiting each other and to be in your fiances foreign country during the interview.

You can start the application with him in the country.

He will need to be at home in time for his interview, which would probably be about 3-5 months after sending off your petition. He'd also need to be at home to collect his necessary documents for the interview.

You are allowed to visit him at any time, and this is good for evidence that you're a couple, and you will probably be allowed to go to his interview with him (differs by country) and then fly back to the US with him.

Hope that helps :)
