Palin won't run because she knows she will embarrass herself and be forced to quit the race early due to an embarrassing lack of votes.

This would discredit her and bring her celebrity status down several notches.

In short, her future speaking fees and book sales and other figures that she makes off of her current popularity/celeb status will be put in jeopardy with the defeat she knows that she will be dealt if she decided to embarrass herself with an epic failure of a run.

If a miracle happened and so many democrats did register as republicans because they like Paul then I assume they will vote for him against Obama as well.

That was a well written and thoughtful post. I don't agree with your overall premise that Paul would be a serious candidate in the general election, but nonetheless I appreciate your views.

One thing I did not follow is your assumption, above. Let's say that a Democrat votes for Paul in his/her state's primary. Some states allow open voting so one wouldn't even need to switch registration to do so. Other states do require registration in a party to vote for that party's candidate. In any event, how/why would you believe that a vote in the winter/spring for Paul automatically translates to a vote for Paul in November? That's not generally how the system works.

The only election that mattered in the last 60 years was the Labour landslide in the UK in 1945 which delivered the National Health System

All the other elections in the US/UK were pretty much confetti

UK elections take 3 weeks and are ignored the rest of the time. US elections are permanent and nothing happens after.

Social security and medicare were a long long time ago and nothing has happened since except civil rights and everything is wonderful for black people after - except their unemployment rate is 25% and their first president is spat on by the right because he is black (half = full in the US) - and Rand Paul and Ron Paul want to give restaurant owners the right to ban blacks - I heard him say that - so no change there
