In time past you used to have to call and get a code to enter in the subject line...which means paying the extortion line to GET the code. I don't know if that's still the case but would explain why you keep getting deleted.

peeing yourself yet? LOL

Haha.. thanks.

Well.....

Approved!!

Just got home, it was a pretty nervy morning. Was outta there but 10.45. Entered around 8am. It seemed like ages as I didn't have a watch.

Will post a detailed review later.

Really its pretty simple but that doesn't stop the nerves at the fact someone else is in control of your future. I was wasn't scared about me messing it up, but the 'what ifs', like we didn't fill in and form correctly or they lost something.

First you get a number and wait to be called.

from what I gather IR1/CR1 numbers start with I XXX (mine was I 915)

There are loads of N numbers (I think these are all the work visas and maybe the Fiancee visas)

These go pretty quickly and i counted 100 went passed before my number was called to give you an idea of timings.

Your number gets called and they have your whole file there. Then the commuter crashed which made me nervous as I didn't know if it was just a general fault or because of something in our case. I was told to sit back down while they sort it.

Called back up and they take your finger prints. and give you a courier form to fill in.

I sat back down and began to fill in the form. I then noticed I was filling in a pink form and everyone else's was blue. I had heard stuff on pink clips and blue slips on here, but hadnt read enough to know what that meant. (still not sure) I guessed it was because nearly everyone else was a N number. Then I saw a girl I noticed had and I number leaving and her slip was BLUE. This got me really scared and I thought that was it. I was denied. No one had a pink slip at all.

A shorter wait this time, and my number was called.

Gave my finger prints again, she asked me to raise my right hand and swear I had told the truth to the best of my knowledge.

She asked:

• Where we met

• What my wife was doing there

• where my wife was now

• what does she do

• why did we get married in the US

• was it nice who was there

All very conversational and relaxed

She said you're fine and approved take your slip to organise your courier.

thanks

Ha

easy

Thanks so much everyone on here, couldn't have done it so quick without you all. Just goes to show you can do it on your own, with a little help from friends. I swear I made minor mistakes everywhere. There is so much nervous tension around all these forums and this process, its too much and i think its not needed. There is leeway and it all can be worked out.

Anyone know what the pink and blue slips mean? maybe nothing?

Well, the courier service states 3-5 working days, you can opt for a Saturday delivery for more money.

When I first went up to the interview part, he asked me if I'd made travel plans, I said not yet.

When I went to the courier desk to pay, I said I was keen to go on Sunday or monday. She didn't like my chances and asked If I had told them I had travel plans, I said:

- no, should I have?

- yes maybe that would make them process it faster but its too late now.

So.. she recommended i get a basic service. I opted for before 8am, a little extra. Then you can track it online. She said when it appears online, it means its gonna be delivered the next day. So if it comes up friday, I can phone up and pay more for the saturday service.

Anyway. really I don't think i will get out there till tuesday. But hey, can't have the world.

I would recommend people telling them you have travel plans even if you don't. Although I was asked this before I was approved so don't know if it would go down badly.

See we have travel plans but I'm apprehensive to have John tell them that because I don't want them thinking oh well you are pretty sure of yourself! I thought maybe he should just mention that he would like to leave on such and such a date although to be fair he's not leaving for 3 wks after the interview so I'm not worried about us not getting it back in time.

Well I had my interview yesterday and was APPROVED :)

Here is my experience:

My interview was scheduled for 8:30am but like many people in this forum I attempted to get to the Embassy as soon as possible and was queued up at 7am.

At 7:30am I went through security and received my number from the reception desk (I-901).

Once I got into the Embassy the screens were still booting up and the "counters" for the Embassy staff and Consular Officers were still closed. At around 8am numbers begun to be called out (about 7 N-numbers to every 1 I-number) and I was called up quite quickly.

I was greeted by a friendly member of staff who did take issue with my passport photos I submitted to the NVC (they were on a light grey background instead of a white background) but she used them anyway. Apart from that the first desk was relatively easy, she just ticked off the documents I had submitted and we chatted about her daughter's experience so far at university, so fairly relaxed. I was then given the pink courier form and told to sit down and wait to be called for the visa interview.

About an hour later I was called up for the interview. I put my hand up and swore all the information was true, I was then asked to sign Part II of the DS-230 and then asked: How did you and your spouse meet? How did the relationship develop? Was your J-1 visa subject to the 2-year HRR? She then said "Everything seems great here so I will go ahead and approve this visa". Cue HUGE smile and many thank yous.

I then paid the courier and left at 9:05am. All in all, it was quite painless and I can honestly say all the worrying and anxiety was not warranted!]

As to the pink and blue slips:

After the first counter: a blue slip indicates an N-number and a pink slip an I-number. The reason to distinguish is so when you get to the courier desk and give a pink slip they will tell you about the brown package, if you have a blue slip they have no need to tell you about it because you will not have one!

After the second counter: If you have a blue slip it means you have either been- refused, placed into admin processing or refused pending the submission of additional documents.

Hope that makes sense and best of luck to everyone!

Thanks for the info on pink and blue slips.

I got the pink slip and I notice in tracking my passport is due to be delivered tomorrow.

But... no one said anything to be about a brown package? What is this?

You'll get a delivery envelope...inside your passport and then a brown envelope that basically is all your visa info to give to the immigration control office at your POE. Don't open the envelope and it will tell you on the outside don't open it lol
