Hey everyone,

I know this is a little off topic but I was wondering if any of you had travelled to the States while your visa application was processing? I was planning to go over next month to visit my wife for a couple weeks but I want to make sure my application won't be affected before I book my flights. Any advise you have regarding this would be much appreciated! :)

Cheers

Peter

My husband hasn't been over since we started THIS process but during our K1 he came over. He also came back when the K1 had been used and was null and void. They asked a couple questions and just told him not to stay. I would strongly advise that you fly through Dublin if possible simply because if they DO deny you entry at least you haven't flow for hours and then have to turn around and do it again. John has flown through there numerous times and never once had any issues beyond the 1 or 2 questions because of the used up K1

Yes, I did it with no problem at all whilst in the middle of a CR1 Visa process. Just make sure your ESTA/VWP is still valid.

Before I travelled I asked the same question on here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/301187-not-sure-about-travelling-to-us-while-application-pending-worth-trying

I have heard of people advising the Dublin method but that was far too much hassle for me coming from North Scotland. After researching it the concensus is that hardly anyone has a problem entering the US on VWP whilst a Visa is pending. You do hear the odd horror story though...... (but don't hear so much of the many people who have no problem).

HighlandScott, what did you tell the border protection officers when you entered the states? What airport did you arrive at? Like you I would rather go straight there as getting to Dublin would be more hassle.

My ESTA had expired but I just reapplied for it and it was approved, so thats a positive start at least :)

I thought it was first completed first interviewed.. am I wrong?

JKMinney's case was completed after yours but her partner has an interview on 10/13.

Just curious because your case (Samay) being given an interview day of October 31st leaves me (got case complete on August 25th) little chance of an October interview. Also I remember someone getting approved on August 23rd and getting an interview date of October 20th.

It all depends on 2 things.

1. The other visa's going out. What their interview schedules are like. How many spots have they taken up?

2. The amount of staff you have. This is a big one as usually the more staff members you have the more interviews they can allot in a given day.

That makes sense. For some reason I thought it was as if we literally formed a line, and it was first case completed = first case interviewed but that doesn't seem to be the case. I can see how the other visas going out and the amount of staff affect the process but I figured that the line would still stay the same.

.... Just waiting for that interview date - I know you are too. Hopefully this week will be a good one for us.

That would seem to be the case, but as we have seen over the past few months this is not apparent. LOL.

The one thing that is good in my case is we have about 5-6 guys on here that are waiting for Interview dates in Mumbai as well. If these guys weren't waiting with me... I would be in a psych ward. lol

Best of luck to you too... :)
