Its tough to get something going when you have your citizens being killed and no one knows this better than Hamas.

Hamas is trying to enforce the truce, they are moving towards becoming a partner for peace. That's fantastic news. We should all see this as a breakthrough. The Israelis and Hamas are in talks right now. This is a very good sign.

Its tough to get something going when you have your citizens being killed and no one knows this better than Hamas.

Consider this, Simpson. I'm Palestinian. I hold deeds to properties inside Israel. I don't live in the West Bank or Gaza and don't lob shells at anybody. But, I have no right to claim my property or even be compensated for it at a fair rate. If I'm pissed about that, can you blame me?

Now, multiple that by the number of people Israel has displaced in the same manner and continues to displace, and tell me if peace is what Israel really wants, or is it really the land of people to whom it denies the right of return?

I'm just skimming this thread now. Kind of weird seeing my name show up so often.

I do have strong opinions on this topic, it's true. Look, I've lived in Israel off-and-on for about a quarter of my life at different stages. I have family and friends there, and strong ties to it. I proudly declare that I love and support what Israel is and represents. I also criticize polices and government leaders that I think are leading it down the wrong track.

Since it seems to have come up, I also would point out that I long ago made a habit on Internet forums not to bother debating people with whom I just don't get along. This isn't work where I'm required to deal with people I'd just as soon not. This is meant to be for fun, right? I do enjoy debate, which is why I come on here. But only with people that in my view have a sense of decorum. If I don't enjoy it, why repeat the process? Life is short. I have a list of folks here on VJ that I just put on auto-ignore. I'd rather just enjoy the forums with those that I get along better with. That's my right. Nobody can force me to engage them if I don't want to.

Anyway, I don't check VJ during the day while I'm at work so don't expect to see anything from me M-F 8-5 Central time.

I logged on now just to catch up but no time to play, we're going to a concert tonight.
