Doesn't ths reinforce the image of homs as girl-like?

I mean what guy lets others spit in his food... and then cries about it.?

On a side note, this is actually a pretty clever PR move for this band, these types of vids go to people who have never even heard, nor thought about buying your product before.

Danno, Rise Against is actually a pretty popular Hardcore Punk/Hard Rock band. All of their music is passioate and politically motivated. While I may not agree with their politics completely, all of them have a message, especially in their videos.

As far as this video goes, it's a strong message to young teens that life isn't all that bad and once they get through the ####### in school. This was done in response to the homosexual teens who killed themselves last September (hence the full name of the song). The message wasn't crying because someone spit in his food, the message was because those kids had put up with the ####### day in and day out and were looking for a way out.

Why the concern for only "those kids", gay kids committing suicide are but a fraction of the total.... why not broaden the "victim group" and reach the masses of likely kids?

I bet if we looked at research we would find much larger demographics within those considering suicide such as, relationship break-ups and family trauma at home or even sexual abuse.

I see this as more of -jumping on the bandwagon of the day rather than an attempt to save lives.

If you want actual punk, listen to The Descendants, or The Melvins :P AFI, Rise Against, all those bands are pop-punk, like Blink 182.

AFI and Blink 182 are a lot lighter than Rise Against. You're talking more like Sum 41, The Offspring, Weezer, etc.

Their music is a bit more melodic, but they are no where near pop-punk. It's why the catagory "Hardcre Pop Punk" was changed to "Melodic Hardcore" because "Pop" didn't fit anywhere near the bands that made it into this catagory.

Oh and for the record, "The Descendants" are actually a part of the same catagory, lol.

If you say so. I guess we'll agree to disagree. I grew up with real punk, not this "melodic" stuff. It sounds alright, but I prefer the real thing. I don't like the bubblegum punk that you hear on the radio now, at all.

I grew up listening to the Offspring. I don't really consider their first three albums post-punk or pop-punk.

I always sort of considered them pop-punk, but not bubblegum pop-punk like sum41.

rise against look like they shower every day, and wear freshly laundered clothing. they probably even smell good. hardcore punks are usually filthy.
