Your wife gave birth in the Pjilippines so there's no way that your son can be a u.s citizen because he was born in pinas...but you have a chance to bring them there in U.S!

Above is incorrect. If you are a US citizen and have lived in the USA for 5 years, your child is a US citizen too. You need to report the birth to the US embassy in Manila and get CRBA b(Consular Report of Birth Abroad), so he can get a US passport: http://manila.usembassy.gov/service/citizenship.html

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Newb, please do not respond if you are not certain of the answer. It is possible that the child has a claim to US citizenship

YMMV

If it was my choice, kid would have been born here. Will always have a dual nationality, but maybe you want that. Yes, take care of that immediately with the USA consulate in that country and bring all of your original documentation with you. May also need proof you are the dad.

If there is one thing I have really learned to hate about the USCIS and the DOS is that place of birth thing that make such a big deal out of. A kid born here from illegals is more of an American than a kid born overseas from even natural born US citizens. My grandma went back to her home country to have my dad, that was a black mark on him until the day he died.

May want to change your VJ password and make sure your friend doesn't have access to any other accounts (bank, email, insurance)...

You should file for a CRBA for your son. I found this blog and I hope it can help you.

It has all the steps for the consular report of birth abroad.

Don't worry. Wrong answers are often just as useful as the "correct" answers on this website. Look how many folks came away from their usual haunts just to jump on an "incorrect" answer.
