TACOMA, Wash. – A woman caused an accident SR 512 on Monday when she lost control of her vehicle as she was giving another driver “the bird,” the Washington State Patrol said.

The 23-year-old woman, driving a 2004 Taurus, was traveling eastbound next to a Subaru Outback, the State Patrol said.

She wanted to get over to the right lane, but it was occupied so she flipped off the driver of the Outback. As she was doing so she lost control of her vehicle and hit the back end of the Outback, causing it to run off the road and roll over. She ended up in a ditch further down the roadway.

Three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The woman faces charges up to reckless driving.

I guess the moral of this story is this, if you want to give the one finger salute to a driver who is being stupid, you could end up with a lot more than you bargained for.

Flipping the bird, flipping the car, what's the difference? She should have been driving a Firebird. In her defence, the jerkoff in the next lane will think twice before he keeps her from switching lanes.

Could be the Outback could have been undertaking her. Could be a few different scenarios.

But if she's getting charged with reckless driving, and without more info, I'm betting she was trying a late pass and got ticked off when she didn't make it back into the right lane in time.

Moral of the story?

Hummers aren't big enough. Get one of these instead. No-one will mess with you, because you wouldn't notice it if they did.

the right hand lane is the slow lane. the driver doing the flipping coulda sped up or slowed down if she wanted to get in that lane.

Does she qualify for the slow lane? :P She could have always kept two hands on the wheel so that she would be able to maintain control of her vehicle.

I find American hand insults incredibly tame compared to British ones...

That is because American driving is so much slower and safer in general

It's all about bottoms here whereas Brit ones get quite gynie and involve far more vigor

Women are the most powerful at this and men don't put the wrist power into it that it deserves

European drivers are able to give awe inspiring hand hatred without crashing as they get so much more practise
