I can tell you that in my case it was about showing we had a true marriage. The officer wanted to see if we had joint checking accounts, life insurance with her a the beneficiary, transfers of title to property, joint filed tax returns, etc. We didn't have any of this since my wife had not been able to obtain a social security number by the time of the interview. As for the logistics of the interview is was really quite easy. We took our notice and put it through a glass window where someone on the other side grabbed it. In about 20 minutes we were called and led into an office. The officer asked us to stand and swear the testimony we were about to give was the trust, etc. The she asked for all the above. After explaining our situation we showed her photos of a recent trip to meet one of my daughters and our new granddaughter. It was so simple I kept waiting for something else to happen. The officer confiscated my wife's work permit and travel document and stamped something else in her passport. We got her green card in the mail two weeks later.

I understand the two year interview is a little more complicated as you need more of the above evidence and letters from others that have known you over the past two years as a couple. I have a year and half to worry about that.

I am sure it varies from officer to officer, but remember that they want to see this is a true marriage. That means you need to show that you share things.
