Is it OK to schedule the interview BEFORE you get the invitation letter?

I was just wondering if it is alright to go online and schedule the consular interview, medical, and ASC appointments before getting the letter from the consulate that tells me to do this? Has anyone else done this?

Don't jump the system, you need the approval letter in hand. and their instructions.

i wouldnt do that becuase if you schedule the interview and you dont get the invitation letter by then you wont be able to go to your interview.

You should call CDJ and check if they have your case. I do not have my invitation letter either and it was sent from the NVC since July 8th. I called CDJ today and they told me that I can schedule the app and that I do not need the invitation letter. The guy said that my fiance can get one printed when he gets to CDJ. Im going to call tomorrow and double check.

You can do this BUT make sure your case its already at the consulate in juarez and they have you in their symtem. I know a girl here who was told to do this and when they were at juarez they didnt have their case there yet. they would let schedule your interview without they having yor case at the consulate.

Confusing. Not sure what to do. I've been told the consulate gives a lot of misinformation and it even says here that,

"***Consulate staff does not provide accurate information via phone. Do not rely on what they tell you.***" I'd hate to have them tell me everything is ready and then get there and they don't have record of anything.

I am very confused as to whether or not the Consulate can actually print you the the invitation letter there. I just today received an e-mail from the CDJ consulate stating they have just received our file from NVC, and to wait 2-3 weeks for an invitation letter.

I have heard conflicting stories; some individuals say that they no longer print letters there (they used to) and they will NOT print a letter for you and you can't get into anything without it.

I have heard other stories saying they WILL print you a letter - E&R just had one printed there for him last week because he never received it in the mail. Given the notoriously bad mail service in Mexico, I would hope they would print the letter because I am very afraid we will never receive a hard copy. But I am too nervous to take the risk of going there and them telling us they can't print one there.

I don't understand the complications. Mail from Mexico may be slow, but it's right across the border! All they have to do is carry it across the line and then it's in the US mail system. Yeah, I'm not sure what to expect now. I'm corresponding with someone else who scheduled all the appointments today without waiting for the letter to come because the person helping them with this said they can do that and request a letter at the consulate. Now I'm wondering if I'm just sitting here waiting for something that won't come. Obviously they still send the letters because other people I've been talking to are saying that they got them here in the US about 2 weeks after the NVC letter.
