That was a cheap shot that was taken at him. He was in the Hitler youth not the SS and how many children in German during that period were not in the Hitler Youth.

My point is to question through which eyes has he studied it. You can't just pick up the Quran and study it alone. It is understood only through historical context. What sources has he used to study the Quran? Often westerners use biased interpretations. CErtainly quoting the Byzantine Empire doesn't show a lot of scholarship or attempt at viewing the religion through many sources especially sources from the people who practice the religion themselves.

I define antiquated as being old fashioned, obsolete, not applicable to today's society. The Quran is none of these things. There are many interpretations of the Quran both Western and Muslim that can be called antiquated, but the text in the contect of this discussion.
