When to push for expediting EAD? As soon as bio or wait a few weeks.

I was selected for a paid internship but can't start until I have EAD. They've given me a firm deadline of Nov. 1st.

I just got my biometrics Friday August 19. Should I try to get EAD expedited now? Or wait a couple of weeks and if I hear no updates from USCIS then try expediting?

If I get EAD within 90 days then I should be right on time for the internship but if there's a little delay I might not have it in time.

How should I do expediting? Through USCIS? I might be able to get letter with info on internship and the deadline. Or try through senator's office? Or try both at same time and see what works?

I just don't want to be too pushy and just make people annoyed but this is really important to me and only 2 people are selected a year for this opportunity so it's a big deal. And to mention the money would help us a lot :)

Thanks for your suggestions!

ps: My AOS package was received July 18 - I'm adjusting from tourist visa based on marriage to US citizen.

You can start trying to get the EAD expedited right now. Your best bet is probably to contact your senate / congress representative, and try to get them to contact USCIS for you. You should try to obtain a letter from the company that offered you the internship, stating that they want to hire you as a paid intern - that will help the process a lot. You can also try to do this yourself through an infopass appointment, but again, they will want to see proof of a job offer.

Thanks for your info! They're willing to write a letter for me. Downloaded the privacy form from congressman. Tonight will sit down with hubbie and decide a action plan.

I don't think there's any negative affects for asking expediting. If they say no then I just wait :)
