If you like to take photos on your smartphone and then post them online anywhere - Facebook, Photobucket, etc, you will want to watch this video - especially if you have kids and have posted their photos:

This really isn't anything "new" as the story states. In fact, this is not limited to smartphones. Many cameras have GPSes and are capable of storing location information alongside other typical metadata in the image file. Any camera that is able to write these properties to the exif header can be instructed to omit this information.

I should also add that you can easily strip metadata, such as location information from your images before you upload them. There are free programs that do this for you, for example.
