That's weird because my husband says BBQing all the time! Maybe he picked it up from me? But whenever there is a family gathering we are going to a "BBQ" not a "grill." Maybe it's a regional thing?

I was in Canada last week, and I noticed the prices too. I love Harvey's, but $25.00 for two people seemed pretty steep! And housing prices in our small town seem to have jumped up. I remember when you could get a pretty nice 2-3 bed house for around $100,000k. My brother bought a house a few weeks ago, 3 bed, 2 bath, about 2,200 sq ft in need of major renovation for $180k. If it was in good condition then maybe, but it needs A LOT of work. But you're right, it's all relative... There are a lot of places where that would seem like a great deal.

Coffee Crisp is as great as I remembered!

Gee wish we could buy something (even if it needed TLC)for $180K.....here in northern VA....our townhouses are considered average at $300k and about 1500 sq ft....they're nice but could be much nicer.

I never saw clear cream soda until I visited the US. It was always pink!

I took says elastics and icing sugar. And washroom. I confused my fiance and his family by calling it a washroom and not a bathroom.

I know Quebec has clear cream soda. Didn't really see it too much in Ontario. So much better than the pink stuff!

I like the clear cream soda better too, the vanilla stuff here is not as good and no where near what the clear stuff is like.

I never knew it had caffeine.. I guess I just assumed it was caffeine free because the A&W root beer was caffeine free...

I didn't either till my heart started racing and couldn't catch my breath was a bit scary. The only thing I gave with caffeine is chocolate so when I drank way too much my body didn't like it at all, so now I check every thing to make sure I don't over due it.

oh what i would do for a propane bbq and not this nasty charcoal grill stuff..BLECH

and clear cream soda...why oh why does everythyng have stupid carmel flavour and colour??

and just for once i'd like to buy normal jams and bread etc instead of going to the organic section and paying a fortune..and i absolutely miss farmers markets..10 corn for 3$...i'm sorry but that is not an effing sale!:ranting:

Okay I know this is a Canadian thread but I HAD to reply to the charcoal grill thing.. omg it's so gross!! Tony cooked some franks on the "grill" the other day and I ate it but I did NOT like it. I couldn't explain the taste other than blech!

I want a REGULAR barbeque (that's Aussie too) and not this weird charcoal #######. Food tastes like food when you cook in a regular gas BBQ and not like smoke/charcoal/whatever you sprayed to make it light.

the BBQ/Grill thing confuses me because they also called a toasted cheese sandwich (you know in a sandwich toaster/press) a "grilled" yet a BBQ is a grill.. so what the bleep are you doing to my food? I ordered a "ham and cheese toasted" once and the cook lady made the toast then added COLD fillings. Was so hard and dry and so not good :(

I miss "Kirks" creamy soda. It's pink and SO full of sugar. I hate the brown creamy soda. I also call it icing sugar and I think it's powdered sugar here.. I honestly don't remember and just grab the bag with icing sugar in it and ignore what it's called :P

Actually we call gas (you know what you put in your car) petrol in Aus. One day I was talking to someone about how some cars are converted to gas to save money but they were confused and have never heard of gas, the ACTUAL gaseous product. I hope that makes sense :P American's are weird! :P

oh charcoal grilling is the best but never ever ever ever use the lighter fluid...  you need to use one of these... http://www.amazon.com/Weber-7416-Rapidfire-Chimney-Starter/dp/B000WEOQV8

my husband doesn't use charcoal briquettes either, he uses lump charcoal which is its most natural form.. the briquettes have all kind of additives to make them light and burn consistently...

also most people don't know how to charcoal grill properly.. like my BIL thinks there always has to be flame so he is constantly dousing it with lighter fluid  ... so yeah the food will taste like lighter fluid.. lol

Mmm - the smell of lighter fluid wafting through the neighbourhood during dinner time ! Gotta love it - our neighbour next door has no clue how to BBQ
