Name checks are much shorter now than they were years ago. We had a lengthy namecheck from 2003-2005 that held up our I-130 approval for 2.5 years. The goal is to have all completed within 6 mos with most taking approx 6 weeks. These aren't the days of 4 yr namechecks. My husband has an extremely uncommon First/last name...so much so that the IJ handling his asylum thought it was fake.

Hang in there! You've already done the difficult job of proving your relationship. The rest is just a formality. Goid luck!!

Ebbas,

Don't lose hope. I know it's heart breaking but believe me in time you get used to the wait. You don't have to call DOS every week if you don't feel like it maybe every couple of weeks you can call. Keep reading and posting on VJ that's helped me a lot.

Ap can end suddenly. One week you call and he's in AP then you call the next week and they are ready to issue the visa. That's what happened to my friend. After 4 months the embassy suddenly issued his visa. Another friend waited 8 months and they suddenly issued his visa.

Ahmed and I have been waiting 8 months and we are still waiting. We know that someday they will give us a decision on the visa. One day you will get your visa. The CO told you that everything looked good and they were going to do name checks. He gave you hope. Most of us are not given any hope by the CO. We just have to wait and see.

Everything will be alright.
