Because if I wasn't here collecting hearts, clueless newbs would be misinformed by self proclaimed know-it-all effin newbs particularly from those who have never seen the inside of a consulate
Thank you for telling it exactly like it is. Apparently, the earlier diplomatic approach didn't make it through some clueless and perhaps very thick skulls who don't realize (or even acknowledge) that so very much of this process is consulate-specific. Manila is NOT Lagos! Places where visas are handed out like candy are NOT equivalent to hellholes!
With Lagos the money should NEVER be going from Nigeria to the US. Would send off a 5 alarm red flag that the relationship was being paid for. For money from the US to Lagos Small monthly amounts of a consistant nature that show you are helping your SO get buy especially if they are unemployed. Small amounts for Christmas ( or other religious equilivant ) or birdays. Medium amounts for well documented crisis situations. Too much money would seem iffy especially if it is in the form of one or two lump sums ( payment for a spouse ??? )
Thank you, N or B, for addressing the OP's specific situation knowledgeably and helpfully. Too much noise from thick skulls was clouding the situation, perhaps very seriously for the OP, because Lagos is no laughing matter.
I know it's off topic, but I want to say thank you to the members who stay on this site long after their spouse/fiancee is here. If everyone quit after POE, this site would be worthless. The best advice comes from people who have been through this process, not people waiting for their NOA2, hoping they don't get an RFE. " Go with your heart" is good advice for your relationship, but not the immigration process.
It's never off-topic to remind people that there's no substitute for experience. Thank you for taking the time to point this out, si man. Edited by TBoneTX

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate your input on this topic! Payxibca....Maybe I was not clear in my question, but I have a binder full of all kinds of evidence of proof of an ongoing relationship....I was just asking specifically of the western union receipts and if they would be good to include or not. Of course I know I can't just use WU receipts as sole evidence.

timelines are good indicators, but then again only a newb would not know that

only a newb would give specific advice about there experience at a consulate in eastern europe or southeast asia to an OP whose consulate is in west africa and that is also known to be one of the highest consulates for fraud

YMMV

it doesnt matter, because an advice can be followed or rejected, thats their decision, not yours, not mine, not anyone's. and if you make assumptions about a person, by looking at their timeline or their lack of hearts under their names, then definately you're the one with issues. have a nice day

Would you recommend sending western union receipts for the interview in Lagos ? Has anyone done this? I just want to know if its a good proof of ongoing relationship or if it will be used against me?

It could also mean that they are scamming you for money and have no intention of coming here.....it's famously done in some countries.

It could also mean that you are "buying" the marriage........also seen in some cases.

Money receipts mean nothing relative to a relationship.....it is generally advised to not include anything except some gift receipts.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Sorry, but it matters crucially. People here are seeking -- and they deserve -- the most complete, correct, appropriate advice for their immigration situation. If the questioners receive misinformed, incorrect, incomplete, cavalier, or overly general responses and believe these (whether based on the volume of response or due to a tone of misguided conviction), the results can be disastrous. How would you feel if YOU got wrong advice, relied upon it, and ended up in an expensive, time-consuming, pickle of a situation that could have been completely avoided in the first place? Who then would be the one with "issues"?

You can make SOME assumptions about posters from how prudent they are, and how they perceive the big picture and their place within it, and their care in expressing to others the potential benefit or harm of certain actions. In general, on this site, there is no substitute for experience.

People don't know what they don't know. That's what Payxibka is saying, and correctly. He's also saying that people who haven't yet interviewed at comparatively powderpuff Eastern European consulates can't possibly comprehend the magnitude of difference at Lagos. If what he's saying is incorrect, please explain exactly why and how... and just because you'd like to BELIEVE that it's incorrect doesn't MAKE it incorrect, because maybe you don't know what you don't know. That's not a personal assault, but an objective observation.

Is it not possible to educate new members without calling them names?

Is it not possible for new members to accept they might be wrong?

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.
