Best wishes DeeDee for the Interview. Ignore negative posts and go with your heart. Makes no sense to me why someone would stay on this Forum if they had their Finacee/Wife here and hang around to collect Hearts to show authority. Now thats BORING. So, what color is your hair going to be. Pink, Blonde or brunette. I know your a brunette in real life. GOOD LUCK AT THAT INTERVIEW. Tim/Mav.

depending on the consulate it could be damning evidence....
This is the advice that most readers of this thread should pay closest attention to. Some knowledgeable Lagos filers should be along soon to answer the OP's specific question about Lagos.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I included receipts as part of my 129f petition and my fiance will have more updated reciepts for interview to show support is ongoing for her and my stepson. Maybe some countries look at it differently but I see no problem with a reasonable amount of support. There was recently a fiance from Philippines who posted she got quite the opposite result. She did not need support from her petitioner and had no receipts. The interviewer got very suspicious of that. Jim.

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate your input on this topic! Payxibca....Maybe I was not clear in my question, but I have a binder full of all kinds of evidence of proof of an ongoing relationship....I was just asking specifically of the western union receipts and if they would be good to include or not. Of course I know I can't just use WU receipts as sole evidence.

I send money through Western Union every month to help support my wife and her family, as well as to pay our tuition bills there. I included the receipts in our interview package as it not only proves ongoing relationship, but also the ability to provide for her and prevent her becoming a public charge.

Best of luck to you and yours.

Would you recommend sending western union receipts for the interview in Lagos ? Has anyone done this? I just want to know if its a good proof of ongoing relationship or if it will be used against me?

I'm not sure if this applies to you but when I was getting the Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS-240) in the Philippines for my son, the consular officer said I needed more evidence of an ongoing relationship before the time of conception. We had submitted all the other information and didn't have much else but I later found some Western Union receipts as well as some other postal receipts which I sent over to them via courier as additional evidence. Apparently that was sufficient because we were approved and got the official document about a month later.

From my experience, I think they do count as evidence towards and ongoing relationship. At least I don't think it could hurt.

Yes! If you can show that help them with support that is a good thing.

what do you mean? thats PART of our proof. lets be serious only an idiot could partially support an unknown person. we know eachother for 6 years. we have pictures, plane tickets, passport stamps, boarding passes, messenger/skype logs, and letters from our families that describes our relationship. what issues? jesus...and i bet the person who posted this doesnt rely on that either

Don't worry DeeDee&Sam; I recall some of your postings from some time ago, and given the situation you described then, I think it's completely appropriate to have those receipts handy.

:ot:

I'm very happy (as I'm sure others here will be or are) that you are almost at the interview and things went well.

Good luck :ot2:

yeah if u know what happeed a while ago you know i kinda needed support. if i was a person to get suspicious at, i would have let sam to get me an apartment and pay all my bills, but i never accepted it

oh and just an idea. i included in my proof binder postal receipts from him. we dont send letters to eachother but he send me gifts on special occasions ^___^

Hello Harmony...

Here is a link to the Forum in African Sub-saharan where exactly this topic was discussed:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/267799-money-transfer-proof-in-ghana/

Even though the question was about Ghana, I think it would also apply to Lagos...My comment, by the way, is also in this previous post.

Good Luck to you!

Toni

Nice job HARMONY2012! Great question. Well, I think this could work for you or against you when it comes to Nigerian US Embassy. They could say the reason yes this shows a commitment on both sides, or they can say hmmmmm is the beneficiary scamming the petitioner? Don't forget this is Nigeria we are talking about. Have them with you at the interview among the rest of the proof you are presenting, if you are asked for more then ask if this would be helpful.

God be with you and good luck! Prayers are with you!

Because if I wasn't here collecting hearts, clueless newbs would be misinformed by self proclaimed know-it-all effin newbs particularly from those who have never seen the inside of a consulate

With Lagos the money should NEVER be going from Nigeria to the US. Would send off a 5 alarm red flag that the relationship was being paid for. For money from the US to Lagos

Small monthly amounts of a consistant nature that show you are helping your SO get buy especially if they are unemployed. Small amounts for Christmas ( or other religious equilivant ) or birdays. Medium amounts for well documented crisis situations. Too much money would seem iffy especially if it is in the form of one or two lump sums ( payment for a spouse ??? )

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I know it's off topic, but I want to say thank you to the members who stay on this site long after their spouse/fiancee is here. If everyone quit after POE, this site would be worthless. The best advice comes from people who have been through this process, not people waiting for their NOA2, hoping they don't get an RFE. " Go with your heart" is good advice for your relationship, but not the immigration process.
