I'm not sure what you mean by tax "release". But you do have to send in tax information. Either tax transcripts from IRS or 1040s and W2s. And it's either for the recent year or for the last 3 years.

Correction. Either a tax RETURN transcript or complete copy of tax return including all schedules and attachments. There's more to many tax returns than the 1040 and W2s, or 1040EZ and W2's.

Unless you are stopping the process of pursuing an immigrant spouse visa, yes, the affidavit of support and supporting documentation and at least ONE tax return or transcript as described above, will definitely still be needed. Information from three tax returns are needed as well. The exception would be for somebody not required to file a tax return.

Yes, the copy of the full tax return is required - a few got RFE for not including the additional schedules that were part of their return.
