Oh I see. I didn't know it would take that long to receive a green card through work. While I am on my work visa, is there anything against me living with someone while I'm not married or anything like that?

Some states (namely Mississippi, Virginia, Florida, and Michigan to my knowledge) technically prohibit cohabitation before marriage.

Some counties also have ordinances against things like "dormitory living" i.e. many individuals sharing a living space zoned to be residential.

Check with your state and county.

This has absolutely nothing to do directly with your immigration status, however. It is soley a state/county matter.

By the way, if I met my boyfriend online and I go to America on an employment visa and we marry in the future, do I show proof of back then when we were talking online or start out fresh and start off from when we met in America during the interview and all that?

If you marry, then just meeting on-line earlier prior to the marriage will not matter at all - as long as you'd be able to produce sufficient evidence of bona fide marriage - common bank accounts, house lease, utility bills things of this sort. There will be a period of time before the interview that will give you a chance to establish that.

Sorry if this is to obvious a question, but you have passed the US Certification process?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Will an age gap of 10 years be questionable? I have no problems of providing proof because when we do get married we will have lots of proof but I'm afraid that the age gap might alter their decision in any way. What are some extra very strong proof to show them that it is a legitimate marriage?

No age gap is relevant for an employment visa. You should post this ion one of your threads on a K1 or CR-1 visa.

No I meant if I get married while on a work visa and I go do the interview, not for the K-1 or anything. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am assuming that the process to go from employment visa to permanent resident is a little bit of a different process than from a k-1 to a permanent resident.

Not really.
