Bank Statement, Name/NBI Clearance Questions

We're in the process of gathering documents for the interview. One of the supporting documents mentioned in the I-134 Affidavit of Support form is the bank statement. If my fiance only had a current balance of $1,000 in his savings account, would it bring a negative effect to our case? He is employed and is receiving retirement checks monthly, as well, so his income shows above poverty line level. Other than that he doesn't have any more assets to show. Also, does he need to send me originals or just copies of his income tax returns and W2's?

And another thing (hehe), my baptismal certificate 'GIVEN NAME' has a "MARY" in it so it's slightly different from my 'BIRTH CERTIFICATE' name, which is without the "MARY." Does this have any bearing? Do I need to get a separate NBI/Police clearance for this? I never used my baptismal name in any legal documents though.

Thank you in advance for your reply.
