List of Trips??

I have a quick question regarding the requirement to list all trips outside of the US since becoming a PR....I visit home quite a bit for short visits- mostly driving so my Passport isn't always stamped. I am worried that I will not be able to recall every time that I have left the US for these short trips over the last 5 years...what happens if I miss a trip on my form? Is there any way to request a copy of the records that the CBP has from when I've crossed the border? Any help or advice anyone can give on this would be greatly appreciated!!!

But the I.O. has access to it. For that reason Green Card holders who travel a lot maintain an EXCEL list of all their absences from the U.S. It's like taking birth control before getting pregnant once you know you are having sex.

Thanks for this post, as a K-1 beneficary I have been keeping track of all our visits on a log which I submitted as evidence of our ongoing relationship, since we cross over by land. I didn't realize that it will have to continue after we are married as well, once I have my travel authorization.

At our AOS, IO said, congratulations, both your wife and stepdaughter have been approved for their green cards. But these are only conditional will have to file an I-751 in two years and an N-400 in three if interested in US citizenship. Jotted those two form numbers down. When I got home, downloaded and printed them to read those the next day. See we have a lot of records to keep.

Thanks for the post. Like i said though, I haven't necessarily been keeping the greatest records (my fault obviously) because I wasn't aware of this requirement. So you're saying there really isn't a source of information i can access?

Right now i am looking back at past bank statements, etc, that show foreign conversion, but inevitably i will miss a trip I'm sure.

Anyone else have any ideas?

When you are listing the dates can you include a statement such as "to the best of my recollection I have traveled outside the USA xxx times"?

That's a good idea, that may be my only option at this point. I am also going to contact my Congressional representative to see if they can assist in any way with obtaining records.

I asked this exactly same question last month. As a fellow Canadian, I was completely in the same position as you. I think it's a bit unique considering many of us live close enough to go home on weekends multiple times a year.

I did the best I could. I couldn't remember each of them but all I could do was my best at this point.

Don't listen to any one who tells you that you should have KNOWN to do this. It's not like someone tells you to do it, especially if you weren't thinking of applying for citizenship and then changed your mind.

I'm sure we all will be fine!

You can submit an FOIA request to CBP for the information you're looking for. They will give you the records of every time you have entered/left the US.

Like Treble mentioned - you may want to search in the Canadian forum - someone came up with some additional wording like 'multiple short trips between 3-5 days'...something like that. As someone mentioned - they could access the border records and find out exactly for themselves. I suspect (perhaps falsely) that they understand how easy it is for Canadians to hop over the boprder for a weekend.

You would have to mail it in, and it typically takes them 2 months to respond.
