I'm guessing those face painting booths at the fair must make a small fortune by the amount of people they had waiting in line.

It never ceases to amaze me how RUB women are so much a woman on one hand yet such little girls on the other.

"Stop pouting. No you can't have that because they don't have it here. I don't care if that's what you want, they don't serve it. A woman in a mini skirt and 4" heels shouldn't stomp her feet and yell obscenities in public. It's just not right. Don't throw that at me. Stop hitting me with your purse. Stop it. No I won't give you cab fare." Ah... the joys of being married to a six year old.

This is the part where you have to be the "father" Alla tells me that I have to be her husband, her lover, and her father all in one and that I am supposed to indulge any fantasies, wishes, desires, hopes, dreams AND give her half my ice cream. And NO I am not making that up.

And YES she would also paint her face, she may not be the one to think it up but she would jump right in with Kira on that.

Heh! That's pretty cool. I didn't realize she had her eyes closed at first, was wondering how the heck they did that. Very cool!

...and her father...

That's only slightly disturbing. :P

I am supposed to indulge any fantasies, wishes, desires, hopes, dreams AND give her half my ice cream.
Ecuatorianas (mine, anyway) take the ice cream without asking and get everything else they want by flashing big puppy-dog eyes and saying, "Sometimes, husbands give their wives a [fill in blank, sigh man]," si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

This is the part where you have to be the "father"

I don't have kids for a reason. I hate taking care of people. I didn't marry my wife to take care of her and when she puts me in that position it absolutely floors me.

Alla tells me that I have to be her husband, her lover, and her father all in one and that I am supposed to indulge any fantasies, wishes, desires, hopes, dreams AND give her half my ice cream. And NO I am not making that up.

I know you're not making it up. And that's what's even more disturbing about it.

And YES she would also paint her face, she may not be the one to think it up but she would jump right in with Kira on that.

My wife would never paint her face. Unless the paint cost $200 and was imported from France. "Foooo. I not will be put zis horrible nasty stuff on my beautiful face and mess up my skin. Do you event know how long I make for world such beauty?"

That's only slightly disturbing. :P

I think it's more than slightly disturbing.

I have gotten used to it. :P

we are speaking conceptually, there are times she wants to be treated like the spoiled little girl, a lot of the time actually.

I have no problem with that when a woman marries an older man. My wife is less than a year younger than me and yet she wants someone to take care of her.

When I'm 50, I may marry a 20 year old. In that case, fine. But, as is. No.

Ecuatorianas (mine, anyway) take the ice cream without asking and get everything else they want by flashing big puppy-dog eyes and saying, "Sometimes, husbands give their wives a [fill in blank, sigh man]," si man.

"We're not in...." is a great answer.

Same here. Love my nephews and nieces, but neither of us is interested in having some pink blob rule our lives for the next 20-something years. Fortunately when my wife finishes her Masters, she'll be in a great position to take care of ME. Heck I might even retire early!

I think it's more than slightly disturbing.

Well yeah. I was being diplomatic.

My wife started school Tuesday.

Congrats to her! What is she studying? Victoria's working on her Masters (as I mentioned in another thread). It's tough, we don't see much of each other during the week and not near enough on the weekends, but she's doing quite well. I'll be surprised if she doesn't keep up her 4.0 GPA this term, although she sometimes has her doubts. She's taking a course where the professor divides them into groups, and she absolutely hates working in groups. Usually it happens that everyone in the group figures out that she knows most of the subject matter already and then she's stuck doing all the heavy lifting.

I'm not known for my diplomacy.

Oh I am. Just ask anyone here, they'll say "that Captain Hammer, most diplomatic bloke I know!"

This is eerily hilarious. Nearly every time I ask her for something domestic (cooking, cleaning, etc.), her default reply is "The maid -- she left."

Congrats to her! What is she studying?

She's doing graphic design. She was going to be a fashion designer but I reminded her there are absolutely ZERO of those here in our city.

I know her plan. She's going to get to the last semester and say, "if I take these three courses I can do fashion design."

Victoria's working on her Masters (as I mentioned in another thread). It's tough, we don't see much of each other during the week and not near enough on the weekends, but she's doing quite well. I'll be surprised if she doesn't keep up her 4.0 GPA this term, although she sometimes has her doubts.

My wife did her first paper last night... which really means I did my first paper last night.

I can already see it. This is going to be a great opportunity for us to bond and be close. To work on something together... and for her to get a degree based on my hard work.

She's taking a course where the professor divides them into groups, and she absolutely hates working in groups. Usually it happens that everyone in the group figures out that she knows most of the subject matter already and then she's stuck doing all the heavy lifting.

Socialism at it's finest!

I took exactly three classes of the "how to study for college" course at University of Phoenix. When we had more meetings to plan for our meetings than we did actual class, that was enough for me. "But we give you team-building skills and the capability to work on projects in the real world." Yeah, because I need a college course to teach me how to meet with people in order to learn how to study. Thanks, UOP. Thanks, but no thanks.

This is eerily hilarious. Nearly every time I ask her for something domestic (cooking, cleaning, etc.), her default reply is "The maid -- she left."

I don't ask for domestic things. I simply leave them undone and fend for myself.
