Name Change before/after marriage

Hi,

I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question, but i didn't find any specific related forum.

I am on H1B, getting married to a U.S citizen in beginning of October. My full name has first name, middle name and last name. I want to drop my middle name and change my last name after marriage. Though changing the last name can be done through marriage certificate, I cannot drop my middle name through marriage certificate. Hence I want to change my full name through Indian passport (drop the middle name and also change the last name to my fiance's).

My question is, when I file for my green card after marriage, I will be filing with just my first name and new last name. But my marriage certificate will have my middle name also. Will there be any problems with this procedure?

Right now, my marriage license is issued with my first, middle and last name. As I see it, I can have two options:

1) Continue with my marriage with the first middle & last. Then change my name on my passport to my first and new last name. Submit all documentation as is hoping that USCIS will not have issues with the passport not having the middle name from the marriage certificate.

2) Change my passport to drop my middle name (before the marriage) and get a new marriage license issued without the middle name so that when I apply for the green card, my passport and marriage certificate names will match. An even better option may be to change the middle and last name on the passport before the marriage takes place so that there won't be any additional name changes on the marriage certificate.

Any advice is appreciated as the deadline is fast approaching.

Thanks everyone!
