I was looking at my birth certificate and I noticed that mine doesn't have one of those raised seals. However, it does have the signatures of the mayor/commisioner/registrar, but I was wondering that I might get a RFE for a specific birth certificate. Does anyone have an example of what a BC SHOULD look like? I am worried that I might have some problems with the initial I-129F. I know every year it is different (my brother and I have different-looking BCs). Thanks.

When applying for a passport a few years ago the application requested a newer raised seal birth certificate. I went to the local health and vital records department and got a new one, the certificate I had was a receipt from the hospital not an actual birth certificate.

You may want to go to your department of vital statistics and check about the one that you have, and perhaps get 2 new ones, one for your self, and one to send to your fiance for the interview.

Hmm, I am unable to go to MY department of vital statistics because, well... I am live now about 5000 miles from where I was born at. But I can always go to the one where I live now and check maybe.

But anyways, well, here's the good news (I think). I just re-applied (renewed) my passport because I was a minor just back when the passport was issued WAY LONG ago, just this year. The BC I showed them was the same BC I am going to send a copy of with my I-129F. So if it went okay with that, I guess it should be okay for this too?

If you are nervous about your birth certificate, another option is to simply send in a copy of your passport to prove citizenship. Just be sure to copy all pages, even if there is nothing on them. Some people have received RFEs for not having all pages copied.
