I say If you have the funds go if you dont than pray on it. Some people have accompanied their spouses and they still got denied. So for someone like me who around that time wont have the funds due to the moving expenses I will have to pay and such to move to a new place before he comesand making sure I have his the money for the AOS already in place for that. I wont be attending his interview just can't afford it. But GOD is good and see's my circumstance and he will work it out! just my 2 cents

Money is definitely a factor, as is safety and health. I DID NOT attend the interview. I DID write a second letter stating my intention to marry my fiance and also with regrets that I could not attend the interview for health and safety reasons. I had this letter notarized and I sent it via DHL so it had original signature and he submitted it with packet 3.5. There is an ongoing advisory for US Citizens to avoid travel to Haiti and there is an ongoing cholera crisis. In addition, it is now prime hurricane season.

Of course, nobody knows what's going to happen. I will say that all of his paperwork was in precise order and my fiance was well practiced for the interview. It was stressful but he was approved.

Again given the circumstances in Haiti right now I do not think this will be against you if you do not go. If you do go you have to be safe. The last time I went which was in June I stayed home everyday. I went to Petionville once but I did not party at all. I just layed low for the week I was there.

Shouldn't you be getting a NOA2 anyday now ? I hope so. I just filed my I-129F.

I don't know what is going on with it. The NOA1 date is April 12, and nearly everyone before and after me has already received the NOA2. I'm most displeased about this. The petition was well documented and pretty simple, nothing complex for them to deal with unless they think my 1-page divorce decree is a complication. Even our addresses were simple... neither of us ever move so there's only the current address for each of us. Very simple stuff.

For others who are reading: This hasn't worked in places like Ecuador, so keep that in mind.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Now this is what I'am talking about I didn't even get into the safety part I remember when I went in the midst of the political craziness and when people were getting kidnap. I Thank God for everytime I have gone and have came back A okay. But Like Joy said above I will be sending my letter of intent of why I wanted to attend and couldnt and one of my biggest concerns right now is my job is undergoing a lot of changes and has become strict taking time off and I gave been to haiti 4 times in 10 months. So I will practice well with him as well as make sure he is very prepared document wise. He has a organized folder I have even explained to him everything in advanced . I had him prefill out all his documents at the embassy stage as well as the d156 that's done online. I dont feel in my spirit I need to be there although we are no where near that stage. But I believe in the GOD I serve.

It was a God thing for us when we went thru all of that. And not everybody's case will be this way but I didn't go for his interview and I did send a letter of intent saying we will get married within 90 days. His visa got approved! Thank God! Now we are on the next phases of getting his status changed and all that wonderful stuff! My prayers are with all of you who are going thru these processes!
