It may be because of Diwali because my wife got interviewed on 17th Oct and got SMS from VFS on 19th about dispatching from New Delhi and finally she picked up her passport on 20th from Chandigarh local VFS office.

Singhisking, when we are sending a SMS to 57333 with "VISA US PassportNumber", it is failing. The status on the web site is ""Your passport is under process at US Embassy/ Consulate". Does the VFS, New Delhi automatically sent a SMS to you or..... Appreciate if you can throw some light.

Praise the Lord for he good and His mercies endures for ever. As we approched the deadline, we received wife's visa in hand and we are on the way to the airport to Hyderabad.     . Thanks to everyone who prayed for us and encouraged us each step of our journey.

Since we have our return flights booked for Sunday, we were disparate to get wife's visa and passport today (Friday). We called 0120-6611411 but it was going round and round from voice mail to operator, as the owner of the number is not accepting voice mail (we are supposed to call this number between 9 and 10 AM, if VFS is unable to resolve our issues). So around 9:30 AM, I went to the consulate but they didn't allow me but asked me to come at 3 PM, when US Citizens get to enter the consulate without an interview.

So we packed everything at hotel and then I went inside the consulate and met a African American lady. I explained the full details and she took me to another Tamil lady and I had to repeat everything. She checked the system and said that wife's visa papers were sent to VFS and that we can go and collect those. It was a big relief.

We still didn't get any SMS from VFS and our SMS again failed. However we went to VFS and wife stood in line - third in line (I was not allowed inside). Then she received the SMS from VFS (please note that SMS will not work till VFS receives the visa packet from the consulate). She got the packet quickly and the sealed visa packet and the passport were in another big envelope. We opened the big envelope and checked the passport (VFS was advising us how to open the outer packet and how we need to keep the sealed packet intact).

Our cousin from Hyderabad booked our tickets from Chennai to Hyderabad by flight. We are now on our way to the Chennai airport. The feeling is great after a stressful 5 days. We get a day in Hyderabad and then our trip to Houston starts at 7 AM on Sunday.

All Indian CR1/IR1 applicants that got interview letter please check page 4, where the "Indian Police Certificate" is marked with document status "F", which means "This form is not necessary for this application" (see page 3 for Document status descriptions). If this different for you guys, let me know.

I sent my Local PCC and it was just ignored, as per page 4 of wife's interview letter.

Why is my interview appointment letter only 1 page? I do not have any document status descriptions. What should I do?

Well that is different from most of us but I think you are fine and there is nothing really to worry. However, since you are not sure what documents are still required to be submitted, if any, please proactively check if you have submitted all the required documents to NVC - like the PCC from Passport Office....

This is very helpful NavyK. So essentially its going to be all that we have already submitted to NVC,but, now its going to be copies of it because I have submitted all my originals. The only problem couls arise if they wanted something extra because I do not have a personalised list made by the NVC/Consulate of documents needed.

Thank you!!

There will be not be any extra documents to be submitted except for the evidence of continuing relationship - emails, telephone records, skpe details, travel details......

The one area that US consulates in India may be looking is AOS. Though NVC found your husband I-864 to be fine, sometimes Consulates wants either W-2 of the past 3 years or another I-864 from a co-sponsor depending on the status of your husband. Other than that you are fine with all the required documents.

Take copies of I-130, I-864, DS-230 & DS-3032.

OK. Now probably a dumb question but my husband filed an I-864EZ. He will send me his W-2 for the past 3 yrs. He is my only sponsor. He stays alone in USA. He has distant relatives there. Is an I-864 needed? If yes who should I consider as the co-sponsor? He falls above the poverty guidelines given. I am planning to carry a copy of the I-864EZ that he has filed. Will that be sufficient?
