How was ur interview, Ganesh?

Singisking, Ganesh's wife got her Visa approval and he is in cloud Nine. She will collect the Visa documents at VFS, Hyderabad.

I reached Chennai this morning and wife's interview is tomorrow.

12/28/11 - Received SSN (applied on 12/20/11, as we didn't get based on DS-230 options)

Hi guys wife cleared her interview successfuly. However VFS, Chennai said that the visa may be ready on 10/27 or 10/28, as 10/26 is a holiday. I am hoping to get the passport and visa on 10/27, so that we can return on 10/30 from Hyderabad. Here is her interviiew experience.

Chennai Consulate didn't allow me in but wife could get in an hour early at 12 noon (interview at 1 PM). The first person checked all her documents, photos and asked her for my 1040 (we submitted I-864 using IRS Tax Transcripts). Since we were ready with copies of 2010, 2009 & 2008 tax returns, she gave those to him. He then browzed through the I-864 documents asked if she will be able to provide any co-sponsor as I was a student for 2 years prior to my current employment. We were ready for this too and she gave him my dad's I-864 and he than said that the case now very strong for favorable consideration.

Then her finger prints were taken and at 1:10, I had my interview with the CO (a young American lady) and here are the questions she asked.

Q1 - Is yours an arranged marraige?

A1 - Yes.

Q2 - How did the proposal come about?

A2 - She explained in detail.

Q3 - How many guests were present at your wedding?

A3 - She answered 16.

Q4 - Only 16?

A4 - She answered saying that it was a registered marraige and only 16 were allowed inside the Marraige Registrar's Office and that we had reception after that.

Then she asked for marraige album and hardly looked at two or three pictures and gave it back.

Q5 - When did you husband move to US?

A5 - She answered it.

Q6 - What is his occupation?

A6 - She ansered it.

Than she told her that the visa will be couriered in 7 business days. So she was out by 1:15 PM.

It looks like AOS is taking the prime importance at the Consulates - particularly in India. For those that will be attending their interviews, I strongly suggest that you take a copy of tax returns if you have submitted IRS Tax Transcripts (yesterday they asked for W-2s of Ganesh during hios wife's interview).

And to those that were students in the past 3 years, please take a co-sponsor set even if you are now making 100,000.

My wife has all my documents in terms of tax forms but I already submitted my fathers tax documents as a co-sponsor so I should be covered at that point.

I hope you get your passport soon. It seems that Chennai might be a tad bit behind in processing the visa as fast as Mumbai does.

Thanks Dev. It is a big relief. Consulate didn't look at anything except first two pages of the marraige album. They were more concerned about AOS - strange that they asked for 1040 (submitted Tax transcripts with I-864) and yesterday they asked Ganesh's wife for W-2. Probably they wouldn't have trouble us if we didn't take Dad's I-864 but it came handy when they asked. I think when you give them all the stuff they ask for at interview, the sailing is smooth - finished the interview in an hour.

Yes Chennai is slow. The online visa tracking still states "Your interview is schedule for 10/25/2011. The status will be updated after Interview" and the SMS is not working stating the passport details not available. We will enjoy Chennai tomorrow and hopefully the web site and SMS works on 10/27 and we will be able to collect Visa & Passport too. Booked train ticket for 10/27 and 10/28 just in case.

Ganesh, VFS hasn't yet received the Visa & Passport as on 10/27. Tomorrow is 10/28 and we are hoping to get it tomorrow. Probably due to the holidays it is taking more time. If we don't get it tomorrow, we will have to reschedule our flights.

Did your wife get a SMS from VFS that her visa is ready for pick up? And has the message on the web site tracking passport changed from "Your passport is under process at US Embassy/ Consulate". Your information helps us a lot. Thanks for your help.

10/28/11 - Received Visa papers and Passport at VFS
10/25/11 - Interview Cleared Successfully (Spouse was not allowed in)

NVC: (90 days from NOA2 to Consulate)
08/31/11 - Case Completed (Interview 10/25/11) - Received at Chennai on 09/19/11
07/22/11 - NVC Case Number

USCIS: (92 days)

6/21/11 - NOA2 (NOA1 on 3/25/11) - took a month to get to NVC
3/21/11 - I-130 sent to USCIS Lockbox, Chicago.

Ganesh, VFS hasn't yet received the Visa & Passport as on 10/27. Tomorrow is 10/28 and we are hoping to get it tomorrow. Probably due to the holidays it is taking more time. If we don't get it tomorrow, we will have to reschedule our flights.

Did your wife get a SMS from VFS that her visa is ready for pick up? And has the message on the web site tracking passport changed from "Your passport is under process at US Embassy/ Consulate". Your information helps us a lot. Thanks for your help.

As far as my wife, the status still shows as "PASSPORT IS CURRENTLY PROCESSING AT EMBASSY." Things are taking longer than expected. We hope to hear from VFS by end of day on 10/28/2011. Luckily I bought my wife's flight tickets on NOVEMBER 10th and that should give sufficient time even if the passport gets delivered next week. I will keep you posted. I am praying for your wife's passport.

With god's grace my wife's visa got approved on 10/24 and still waiting for the passort to be delivered to VFS from the embassy. It is still showing as UNDER PROCESS AT EMBASSY.

It may be because of Diwali because my wife got interviewed on 17th Oct and got SMS from VFS on 19th about dispatching from New Delhi and finally she picked up her passport on 20th from Chandigarh local VFS office.

USCIS: (108 days)
Spouse's Journey (F2A) - USCIS
02/22/2011 - Filed I-130 as F2A
02/28/2011 - Notice of Action 1 (NOA1)
06/16/2011 - Notice of Action 2 (NOA2)

NOA2 to NVC (32 days to get Case number)
NVC: (28 days)
07/18/2011 - NVC Received and got NVC case#.
07/18/2011 - Send my Naturalization Certificate via mail and email for upgrading my case from F2A to CR1.
07/19/2011 - Gave both emails to NVC and received IIN#
07/21/2011 - Got confirmation email about changing my petition from F2A to CR1. Up-gradation took 4 business days.
07/29/2011 - AOS Fee Bill Received & Paid Online.
07/29/2011 - DS-3032 Email sent to NVC from beneficiary.
08/01/2011 - AOS package invoice shows "PAID" and Package mailed to NVC.
08/02/2011 - DS-3032 received by NVC.
08/03/2011 - IV Fee Bill Received & Paid Online.
08/04/2011 - IV Fee Bill invoice shows "PAID" and DS-230 package mailed to NVC.
08/16/2011 - SIF & Case Completed

New Delhi Consulate:
10/06/2011 - Medical Done.
10/17/2011 - Interview Date and Visa Approved !
10/20/2011 - Passport with Visa picked up from local VFS office.
12/16/2011 - P.O.E.
01/19/2012 - Receive Green card in mail

2013-11-13 - Apply for Removal of Conditions.

2013-11-23 - NOA Date

2014-03-27 - Approval.

2014-04-01 - Green Card received.
