Yes, on the day of the interview where are you suppose to start , at VFS or at consulate itself?

You can go to the consulate itself you DO NOT have to go to VFS.

VFS offers a service that if you want to store your belongings, and want transportation to and from the embassy they will provide it for you.

They have a lounge as well if you want to eat/drink something while you are waiting in the morning.

IT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT TO GO TO VFS AT THE DAY OF THE INTERVIEW! You can go directly to the embassy if you want, there is no problems doing that.

This is for Mumbai, I do not know about the other locations and their processing.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know how far apart VFS and Consulate is in Mumbai?

Map

VFS location is generalized...but it's really close to that starting point.

It's less than 1 km.

Hi Dave and Kinnari,

Thanks.

1) If the beneficiary lives in 2 places (diff state). Does he/she need Police Clearance Certificate & Passport Clearance Certificate from both places, so the total 4 Clearance certificates?

2) Is the Passport Clearance Certificate also called or known as Exit Permit?

It depends.

Read here. http://www.***removed***/immigration/police-certificates.html

My wife's passport is less than 6 months old. This is also her first ever passport. As the local clearance cert. (local police) is not necessarily needed it is beneficial to have as to anything they might ask at the interview.

It's also needed (to my understanding) at the RPO office in A'bad to get the Passport Clearance Cert.

If it were me, I would get both even if both aren't needed.

Congrats Navyk! Finally your interview is scheduled. I am glad about that. My spouse interview is scheduled on October 24th at 1PM in CHENNAI. I hope everyone in the board who has been waiting for interview news, will get it as soon as possible. Thank you all for your support.

Thanks Ganesh86. As soon as I saw your message, I called and got mine a day after yours. Thank God for He didn't allow my self-inflicted wound to haunt me (I had CC on 8/15, which got opened due to email inquiry with soft copy). I am so happy to have made it to October - don't want to wake wife up from her sleep. May probably schedule medical and VFS submission at Hyderabad (we can submit documents in any VFS).

Ganesh86, I am glad for you. We all go through hills and valleys and need each other for help and support (While I was waiting for interview date, on 8/25 I was shocked to learn that my close case was opened - it was then a lot of VJs helped me weather through that storm). You too helped me in your own way - I stopped calling NVC knowing that you are calling them twice daily.
