Why? I could care less where the want to live. They do me know harm, and as pointed out by many, they are a positive to the economy... not to mention their great family values. Why do they need to create decent wages and living conditions in their home country when they live here?

If you love illegals so much, advise them to go home and clean up their own despotic countries so they can get some decent wages and living conditions at home for everyone.

Wow... no sense in arguing any further. The good news in my opinion is we've finally taken a step in the right direction by announcing increased deportations of the bad apples and work autorizations for the good illegals. It's only a matter of time for an amnesty. It's the first positive thing I've seen on Obama's watch... other than the speech he gave in Egypt at the beginning of his presidency. Unfortunately, no way would I vote for him again based on 2 positives and a zillion lies.

There doesn't need to be an argument for illegal immigration. If they are here there is nothing to argue. Treat everyone as you would like to be treated. I just don't understand how anyone could have anything against them. They aren't taking others jobs. Very few would hire a non-latino as a housekeeper, nanny, hard-laborer, fruit picker, dishwasher, busboy, etc... nor are there many USC that would take on those jobs. Wow, could you imagine going to a restaurant with a bunch of whites or blacks cleaning the tables and washing the dishes... geez, the turnover would be daily and the waits at restaurants would be rediculous because all the tables would be dirty.

That you think lying and cheating are ok as a means to an end is regrettable, but I don't expect any better from those who make excuses for criminals.

This whole post is non-sense in my view. I guess that is what happens when you have this negative view calling illegals as "criminals." Shoot someone you are criminal. Rob a store, you are a criminal. Work hard? It's a good thing the current administration disagrees with you. Wouldn't it be something if this is the move that gets the economy rolling. Allowing illegals to legally work. Let's see what happens. Anything is better than the status quo.

Hey perhaps it's a geography thing. It's too bad folks out west feel as you do. I personally wish Texas would just say Adios to the rest of the US. We can survive just fine without the other 49 states. Plus we wouldn't have to listen to everyone complaining about how illegals somehow take their jobs, or that somehow their tax money goes to support illegals, etc. lol

I live in the west. You can deny it all you want; there are lots more people who feel like me than you want to acknowledge.

Crossing a border to provide a better life for your family is a heinous act in your view? Wow, we are way different. In my view, freeloading health care, food stamps, unemployment etc is much worse than one crossing the border to provide for one's family. Though, neither of them are heinous acts. One of them provides many benefits to the economy, work hards, and are a lot more appreciated then you seem to give them credit for. While the other one simply sucks on the American tax payer's #######. I'm completely against violence of any kind, but you seem to have this ideal that we should punish a hardworker by shooting them, and let the freeloaders carry on? Why? Why punish the hardworking and give a free ride to the worthless? It makes no sense. We need to replace the folks that are too lazy to get off their butt with the hardworking. Given that it's impossible to immediately deal with all the illegal/undocumented residents right now in one go (whether that is by deporting them or legalising them), I support a policy that focuses efforts on certain cases. So, for example, I support focusing deportation efforts on those who are guilty of breaking other laws in addition to immigration laws.

Which isn't to say I support Obama on immigration; there are so many concrete things that could/should be done but all he really seems to have done is make a statement which, whilst I may partially agree with the sentiment, I feel was mostly made just to get political support from certain people.

Can anyone tell me what kind of wages illegal workers make? I was reading a novel whose author must just have been slightly blinded by her own high income because the illegal workers in her novel (which the main character employed, and she was portrayed as feeling guilty for the "low" wages she gave them but felt she couldn't afford more and was glad she could find these workers) earnt more than many of the working class Americans I know. Pretty sure that author was just ignorant and nobody checked her facts. But would like to know. Lol.

I can tell you that in my area the illegals won't work for less than $10/hour cash.

That is the same amount my USC son was making at the local SAMS club before deductions.
